The members of the Baptist Mission

and the ladles of Hie town were cor-

the nature of a review of the study of
Japan. Many instructive papers were
etteo disease. Medicines may palliate
symptoms. Medicines may nrgo the
powers of Nature to resist disease. Mcd-
icjtqs sometimes arouse the efforts of tho
human body to right Itself against de-
ra. moments. This la the moat that med
icine can do.
A man accidentally pots his Anger in
the fire. Instinctively he wets bis
finger In bis month, then blows on it
fof'tho cooling effect. This is no enro.
Hs’knows it very well. But it makes It
feel better for the time being.
People eat unwisely. This produces
dyspepsia or indigestion. Tho only
rational cure is to eat correctly. Yet If
a palliative Is at band the pains of indi
gestion can be mitigated, the throes of
dyspepsia assuaged. Tho medlelno can
not be said to have cured. It simply
palliate* disagreeable symptoms. The
cure moat come through right living.
Take Perans, for Instance. No one
claim* Perana is • care for dyspepsia.
But Perana will stimulate the stomach
to perform its function properly. Pera
na will increase the flow of digestive
fluids, without which digestion esnnot
bo carried on at all. It wlU increase the
relish of food, tho appetite.
It is admitted that all thla can be
accomplished by right living, bnt there
are so many people who either will not
or do not know how to eat correctly that
a tremendous amount of good can be
done by the wise nso of Peruna.
-- d — —j..,, —-iiary
ways, undoubtedly the stomach wi>/ J
right itself, tho blood would rid Itscl/
tho poison, and everything would' —
8| S b G But as said before there are a Americus,
—’ ■—- — — «-*«io .m i are I
mullitndo of people who will not or cam
not adopt right methods of living. To
such people Peruna la a boon. A doso
before meals will assist tho stomach to
do its work. Thla prevents fermenta
tion of the food, brlnge about normal
digestion, and all the train of Ills that
follow Indigestion disappear.
In other word*, Peruna la helpful to
thoso who live badly, or those who
have acquired some chronic weakness.
Pcrnna does not cure, hut it assists the
powers of Nature to brlngabout scare.
Tho whip docs not Increase the power
of tho horse to pall a load, bnt Judi
ciously used Jt Stimulate! tho horse to
nso hls powers at the right time, with
out which he could not bavo palled the
load.
Thla Illustrates the effect of Perana,
or any other good remedy upon the sys
tem. Taken at the right time, It calla
forth tho powers of the human system
to meet the en.- roach men ta of disease,
and thus eats short, If not entirely ends,
the diseased action.
• No ono should ever attempt to substl-
tnto medicine In the plaeo of right liv
ing. la the end such an attempt will
provo a disaster. Butan occasional nso
of the right medicine at the right time
la a godsend, and no reasonable person
will undertake to deny it.
