There is n moral in this passing of
Sir. White, nnd the story thereof,
story which extends in Its chapters
over more than 20 years, should teach
the reader to be careful of the
stranger within his gates, lest in that
stranger or one who sprouting subse
quent wings is to becomo an angel.
It was In 1886. Sir. and Mrs. Taft
had just been married and were trav
eling through Europe, wrapped In
those rainbow folds of sentiment folk
call a "honeymoon."
The Tafts In the course of their en
raptured rambles came to Vienna.
There they found Mr. White. The lat
ter gentleman was Secretary of Lega
tion for tho United States at the big
city on tho Danube.

Upon complaint of a Jackson street

As the woman had heon suspected of
petty thefts for some time, several

the dame was dry-docked nnd an in

her skirts three pounds sugar, a half

for the possession of which she could
not account. And the result was that
the strains of the minstrel band last
night were wafted to her through the
Jail window.

EVERYONE NEEDS
IN THE SPRING
coming
off upon a near afternoon. Mr. Taft
thought he'd- take Mrs. Taft to see It,
lie asked Mr. White, Secretary
legation, to see about an invitation.
To procure such invitations was not
among things Impossible. Mr. AVblte
could have had them nt a merest
hint.
Upon the morning of the royal func
tion Mr. White sent a note to Mr.
Taft. It ran In practically these
words:
I am sorry to Inform you that
was unable to accomplish what you
asked. Tho affair is very exclusive.
The number of Invitations is limited
and they hnve been ordered sent only
to persons of importance and distinc
tlou. I inclose, however, tickets to
the museum, nnd trust that Mrs. Taft
and yourself will spend u pleasant af
ternoon.”
Air. Taft still has that White let
ter. It has become, although not Bl
ed, the big document In what might
be called "the case of Ambassador
White."
Mr. AVhite has forwarded the nsual
formal resignation. Thnt was done
the moment Air. Taft wus Inaugurat
ed, and It arrived the other day. It
will at once be accepted, although
such acceptance will come perilously
near breaking the ambassadorial
heart of Mr. White, who loves hts
job.
That White Vienna letter of 1886
will be the reason, the real reason,
of the diplomatic letting out of Air.

which is true, and wild theory that
This is just a short talk which wc hope will be of interest and help
to you in selecting the tonic and blood purifier that will be oF the great
est value lo you this Spring.
That this is the most trying oF all seasons on the health is a Fact
well known to us all. It is the time oF year when our constitutions are
required to stand the greatest strain, and unless properly cared For the
foundation is often laid For physical disorders or disease later on. The
great majority of persons are Fast coming to realize the importance of
preventing disease. Health is our most valued possession, and its
preservation is a mailer which vitally concerns every one.
Most persons, even those who are ordinarily strong and robust,
feel the necessity oF a tonic and blood purifier at this season. Some
have no particular ailment, but are weak, debilitated and run-down.
The Winter life, with its decreased amount of out-door exercise, and
the fact that the cold weather has kepi the pores of the skin closed,
prevented the usual necessary amount of refuse and waste matter From
being carried out of the system. These impurities entering the circu
lation have weakened and thinned the blood, and this vital fluid is
therefore lacking in the nourishing properties necessary to sustain
and preserve systemic health, when warm, active Spring life begins.
The general bodily weakness, tired, worn-out feeling, fickle appe
tite, poor digestion, etc., show how weak and anaemic the blood has
I become. Frequently skin diseases, pimples, eruptions, boils, etc., break
out on the skin, and this is evidence of the impurity of the circulation.
S. S. S. is the medicine needed to correct this condition, and is the
only one on which you can rely to supply the system with the best tonic
effects, and at the same time thoroughly purify the blood. The use of
S. S. S. at this time may save you from a long spell of sickness, and it
will certainly prepare you for the strain of the long, hot Summer.
Many people have put off using
a tonic until the system became
so weakened it could not resist
disease, and have paid for the
neglect with a spell of fever,
malaria, or some other trouble.
S. S. S. is Nature's ideal tonic
and blood purifier, made en
tirely of the pure extracts of
healing, strengthening, health
giving roots and herbs. It tones
up the stomach and digestion,
rids one of that tired, worn-out feeling, improves the appetite and diges
tion, and in every way contributes to the strengthening and building
up of the entire system. S. S. S. is recognized everywhere as the
greatest of all blood purifiers, and this combined with its unequalled
tonic properties, make it a medicine needed by every one in the Spring.
S. S. S. is for sale at all drug stores.
