and the play was highly creditable to
the bright young people presenting it
The negro burlesque, “No Cure, No
Pay,” by the boys, was a most laugh
able and pleasant feature of the eve
Ding's entertainment.
The literary meeting of the Epworth
eague met on Monday evening with
Rev. and Mrs. J. M. Rustln at tha
parsonage. Miss Ophle Marketl, who
hns charge of the Junior department
of the league, arranged the Interest
ing program, and Mrs. J. E. French
had charge of the musical program
A most pleasant and prolltablc
evening was spent. The junior mem
bers of the league, under the super
vision of Miss Ophle Marketl, had a
delightful Easter egg hunt Saturday
afternoon.
On the Lutheran church grounds
Saturday afternoon there
Easle egg hunt, whicli was very much
enjoyed. The entertainment was giv
en by the Indies of the laitheran
church.
On Saturday afternoon Mrs. I). T.
'Vise entertained her Sunday school
class of bright little tots In a happy
manner. Many childish games were
enjoyed, after which strawberries and
cake was served them.
Thursday evening Mrs. T. M. Jen
nings gave an elegant six o'clock din
ner, covers being laid for eight.
On Saturday aflernoon. Plains
Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star,
had the pleasure of having with them
Mrs. Egbert Allen, of Amerlcus, a
representative of the Grand Chapter
of the State, and who came with In
struction from the Grand Master of
the State to Inspect Plains Chapter.
Mrs. Allen waif accompanied by Mes-
dames Smith, Duer, Carruthers and
Miss Georgia Harper, of Amerlcus, who
were gladly welcomed for the instruc
tion rendered the local chapter, which
was organized only a few months ago.
Miss Mary Ellen Davenport and Ad
dle Taylor, of Amerlcus, were charm
ing guests of Miss Gussle Evans Sat
urday and Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Fleming, of
Amerlcus. were guests of Mrs. Nina
Carter Sunday.
Mr. and Mra. J. A. McDonald at
tended the funeral of Mra. J. L Page
in Amerlcus Monday.

Our community was shocked and
grieved on Saturday night over the
sudden death of Mrs. Mary Evans
While apparently In perfect health and
engaged In her domestic duties, site
suddenly sank to the floor and ex
pired In a few moments. In the pass
ing away of Mrs. Evans our town
losses one of Its noblest and best
Christian women, and her Influence
for good will long be felt. She Is
survived by two daughters. Misses Llx-
xle and Elnta Evans, and two sons
Mr. and .Mrs. O. P. Jones.
