precedent thus to ho set ho might

Model Farm Will Be Made of Young
l'larr.
The pretty farm of one hundred
acres out Lee street road to the south
of Amerlcus, and purchased two days
ago by Mr. .Tim SI. Furlow, will be
transformed into one of the handsoin
est suburban places in South Georgia.
The large two-story dwelling will bo
remodeled and mado entirely modern,
even to the installation of many elec
trie lights, while special attention will
be given the grounds surrounding. Sir.
Furlow will plant many acres in pe
cans of flue variety, and In due time
will have a magnificent grove of these
wealth-producing nuts. Special atten
tion will bo given the planting of
grain and to raising pigs and fine
chickens (not fighting gnme cocks)
and on all the brood one hundred
acres not a row of cotton will be
planted. It will be made an Ideal
suburban home In every respect.
Sfanv farm wagons come to Ameri
cas Friday to haul out fertilizer
for the next cotton crop, as recent
rains made other farm work Impossi
ble. Sales of guano here are quite
as large as in any previous seaso.i,
undertating the planting of a full cot-,
ton crop.
But the farmers here, It Is believed,
will plant no greater acreage in cot
ton than last year, despite the temp
tation to do so as tlie result of high
priced cotton. ,
The acreage in cotton will evident
ly be largo, as shown from the stand
ing made by the fertilizer manufac
turers to date, and the exceedingly
brogbe prospects for heavier ship
ments this season.
The prices that have been paid by
the farmers for their fertilizer have
been better this season and the de
mand is muchh more pronounced. The
indications for this season show that
there will be an increase in acreage
and tender to make the cotton yield
much greater.
The Central railway and tho 8-a
board Air Line railway report that
they have handled more tons of man
ufactured fertilizers this year than
last.
All of the railroads report a largely
increased tonnage of kainlt, nitrates
compared with the same period of
last year. All the roads report that
is their understanding that the ton-
age will be much ahead of what it was
last year when the season 'is Anally
terminated.
The movement when it does start In
force is bound under the circum
stances to tax the physical equipment
of the railways to tho limit.
