mia. It is a condition in which the circulation is so
weak and impure that it is unable to supply the system
with sufficient nourishment and strength to preserve
Ordinary health.
The medical profession is divided in opinion as
'to the manner in which malarial poison gets into the
t>lood. Some take the position that it is an atmospheric
poison, the specific germs of which are breathed into the
lungs and thus transmitted to the circulation. Others
advance the opinion that persons become inoculated with
the poison through the bites of mosquitos. All however
agree that MALARIA is a blood affection, and any treat
ment to successfully overcome it must not only purify
-this vital fluid, but at the same time add the necessary
qualities of richness and strength to the circulation.
The malarial poison destroys large numbers of the rich, red corpuscles . ...

tems of roads.
I While the force ls at work in that
! portion of the county, Supt. Christian
! will work out the main road leading
south from Gatewood via the old
I Brady homestead and the Broadfield
, place to Huntington.
I This stretch of roadway is greatly
i in need of work, as it is crossed by
two or three streams and has num-
I erous hills a3 well. These will be
cut down, the road well graded and
I concrete bridges put In at the streams,
| thus making the Improvement perma
nent.
! This road is largely traveled by
scores of farmers residing In southern
Sumter, and will be put In excellent
trim.
One camp of convicts is still work
ing upon the new road leading north
from Americus to the Schley county
line, and very soon now a fine high
way to Ellaville and in the direction
of Andersonville will be added
Sumter's system of splendid county
roads.
The work Ju3t finished on the River
road, out near Brown’s Mill, ls of the
very best quality. At Line creek, a
fearfully rough section, the hills be
yond have been cut away and a long
fill, ten feet In height and thirty feet
wide, made at the creek, once an im
passable bog.
A concrete bridge has been put tn
there, and this hitherto rough road
way is now In fine condition, as is the
entire River road leading back to the
city.

(Special to Tlmes-Recoraer.)
Atlanta, Ga., May 2.—One of
the most timely and impor-
whole sta’e of Georgia that has been
devised in recent months Is that of
the immigration committee ot the
Atlanta Chamber of Commerce to
hold a “See ng Georgia” rally in the
month of June.
The purpose of the plan is to bring
hundreds of northern prospectors to
the state just at the time when Geor
gia's natural resources are in the full
bloom of summer growth, entertain
them with barbecues and othler char
acteristic Georgia festivities, take
them into the wealth of advantages
and attractions possessed by the state
for settlers of means who are seek
ing a mild climate and rich soil.
The comm’ttee proiioses to enlist
the co-operation and support of all
the railroads coming Into the state.
It Is [minted out that whereas the
railroads ot the west and northwest
arc constantly advertising and laud
ing the advantages out there
tbe railroads of this section have con
spicuously been neglectful in this re
spect, and It Is believed that If tbe
proper attention were given to this
sort of publicity thousands ot desir
able settlers and millions ot dollars
would be attracted to the state In
comparatively short time.
