HEADY NOW TO MOVE
THE PEACH CROP
Macon, Ga„ June 1.—A conference
me held here today between offi
cials of the Central and representa
tives of the fruit growers, relative to
movement of the peach crop

expected to be the greatest peach crop
Georgia has ever produced. Instruc
tions will be Issued at once as to the
I placing of cars, and the railway offi
cials and the growers will work in
ha'mony throughout the season to se
cure tbe best possible results from the
crop.
The statistics compiled by the Cen
tral show that cars have been order
ed for each district as follows:
Southwest district 2,404
Macon district ...t 7S8
Columbus district 127
Savannah district 68
Chattanooga district 190
Short lines 75
Total 3,622
Not even excepting the mammoth
crop of 1908, the peach crop in Geor
gia this season will be an unprece
dented one, according to statistics
compiled by the Central of Georgia
railroad, preparatory to' ordering tbe
refrigerator cars necessary to move
tbe crop.
Something over 3,200 car loads of
peaches were moved in 1908 from
the territory covered by the Central,
Superintendent of Transportation G.
D. Chandler has made requisition for
3,547 cars for the main line of tbe
Central and for 75 cars for short lines
( which connect with the Central.
All of tbe cars are ordered placed
on the Central pines at stipulated
