The handsome Thornton Wheatley
residence, among the stateliest old

terday to Hon. T. M. Lowery, a weal
thy citizen and mayor of Seneca, S. C,
who will come to Amerlcus at an early
date to reside.
Quite recently, Mr. Lowery paid
|2.>,000 for the Oliver plantation, west
of Amerlcus, and so highly pleased Is
he with this city and vicinity that he
immediately decided to quit Carol'na
and come to Amerlcus to reside per
manently. The beautiful old Wheatley
home appealed to his artistic taste,
and the purchase was effected yester
day through Mr. P. B. Williford, real
estate dealer. The price was not given
out for publication, hut ran well Into
the live figure column.

where he went over Schley's roads.

completed In six weeks. That wiil
give a continuous good road from here
to Ellavitle, every foot Improved.
As soon as Schley gets through with
the road coming to Amer'cus It will
move Its gang to the Ellaville-Ogle-
tborpe road and what cannot be per
manently re-hullt on that route will
he temporarily repaired.

County's Qood Roads Club, assured
Mr. Weldon that his county will ghe
us a good link.
Macon county has improved its road
from the Schley line to Oglethorpe,
Montezuma and Marsballvlllq.

Mr. Lowery
will remove his family to Amerlcus

the Gate City of Southern Georgia.
