and will not leave his office to enter
into the campaign.
To all Intents and purposes the an
nouncement of former Governor Hoke
Smith), who Is, of course, recognised
as'Mr. Brown’s strongest opponent, has
not frightened the supporters of the
present administration. A big fight
is expected, and preparations will be
made for It.
One thing may be put down as cer
tain In the coming contest. There wlil
be no mudsllnging on either side, it
Is the concensus of opinion that the
gubernatorial fight will be fought ea-j
tirely on.its merits.
Hoke Smith will manage his own
campaign for governor, that Is to say
tbere will be no campaign manager but
Mr. Smith himself will glee the de
tails of the race Us own personal at
tention.
Tb campaign headquarters will be
located on the fifth floor of the Peters
building, which 1b two floors below
Mr. Smith’s law offices. The bead-
quarters comprise six offices, afford
ing aufllclent room for Mr. Smith, his
private secretary, Morris Harralson,
