From Monroe, Okla., extending west
ward and southward down Into the
black belt of Texas, the crops have
suffered all the spring from a lack of
moisture and in One of the large cot

no rain has fullen it?.,eleven weeks.
Last year Mr. Pasci.til made a trip
through the sections that he visited
just a few days ago, and the condi
tion of the crops this year is even
worse than last, and it will he re
membered that Texas and Oklahoma
and other states In the western pop
tion of the belt made very poor yields
last year. Singular to note the same
sections which had poor crops last
year caused by rain and those whose
crops were sorry because of a lack of
moisture are suffering from the idea
tical condition this year.
While Vi was traveling through the
cotton belt. Mr. Paschal made his ar
rangements so that during the day
Ante he could ride, while at night he
stopped over at various places and
conversed with prominent farmers and
merolutnts. A spirit of pessimism pe»-
vados the entire oitton producing
population of the wide and ordinarily
large coton producing section vlsltid
by Mr. Paschal, and he predicts that
not even 10,000,000 bales will be made
unless condition® make a very great
change for the batter In the very near
future.
Farmers in this section will make a
very good crop of corn as a general
rule, but the outlook for cotton re

crop Is gloomy and the price will have
