Americus Cost Lillie Fruit For Lack ot Cars. Number Came Sunday and the Situation Was Relieved. Immense relief was afforded in the .AxaerJcus pfeach orchards Sunday trnorning when the fruit shippers look ed out and beheld in their freight yards .all the refrigerator cars needed for ■ funnedlate purposes. The cars came :.Saturday night and relieved the sit- cuatioz here. Of course, much loss resulted from mot being able to get the cars Satur day, as a great deal of fruit packed r.Eor shipping Saturday night was ren- .tiered useless. While little actual work «las done ijn the packing houses here Sunday, it vr»aa a case of "the oxe in the ditch, ’ rand could the laborers have been em ployed Sunday for love or money the . packing houses would have been akin do hives of industry. At Fort Valley the situation was likewise relieved Sunday by the plac ing of cars, and while the loss there -was enormous it really was less than ^anticipated. The situation there and at Marshallville on Saturday was a great deal worse than in Americus. Here, all of the orchards, except the Bagley-Ray Co., have finished ship ping and quit work. Thus far a total of 221 carloads have been shipped from Americus. The "Ware-Progress Co. has shipped 67 .cars, the Raymond Co., 50 cars, foe i Carolina Realty Co., 20 cars, L. U. f rjansford 4 cars and the Bagley-Ray * Co., up to yesterday at noon, had ship- ;j»d 70 carloads. Tfclis gives a total ot 221 carloads ■to this date. , The Bagley-Ray Co. Is yet in the very midst of the shipping Season, and -will ship many additional cars of the -finest Eiberias this week and early next week. Prices continue good, net ting the growers about $1 per crate - over all expenses. Americus groVers -.are highly pleased.
