Chester, Pia,, Soptombor 20.—When
Thomas Wilson, driver of a Philadel

his horses, on routo to this city this
morning, ho was attacked by a swarm
of hundreds of blackbirds,' which flew
upon him, pocking at hie hair anl
eyes, and making a general onslaught I
on hlg cargo of bread.
Tho attack, be says, took placo after
Wilson had reached Proapoct Park.
He used the butt end of bis whip
to fight off the birds, killing and crip
pling a score of them. A dozen or mora
of the blackbird! were taken from
the wagon after It reached Chester.
WUson thinks the birds were prompted
by hunger.
