November 14.—The death yesterday afternoon ot Cnltud State* Senator Alexander Stephens City' was a shock to his friend* turougboat the state, a* while it was known that his health for tome time had been precarious, not even mera- ‘-ers of bis family dreamed that the end wa* near. Tbe end came at 3 o'clock Sunday af- trnooo at the Robertson Sanitarium, where 8enator Clay had ‘been treated for some time. According to tdae physicians, Senitor Clay's death resulted from dilation of the- heart, snperlndnced by arterlq) solaroais. The senator And been HI tor nearly a year and came to tbe san itarium on November 1 to take a rest cure. He appeared to be Improving until Saturday, when ba suffered a relapse which he.
