This Is a wise and provident step on 1 e part of the Georgia Chamber of : ommerce, and It Is to be hoped great good will come out of this meeting. In addition to discussing the mar keting of the goods a campaign to edu cate the canner to standardize every package will be launched. The game, from a local satndpoint, was full of features. They do tell, that the way our own “near” Mathis slammed the horse-hide to all corners of the potato patch—where the game was staged— was a caution. And the manner in which little Clifford Pantone handled the tossing end of the contest, would make old Christy, the veteran with McGraw’s Giants, tremble lest he lose his meal ticket in favor of the Amer icus Tigers’ wonder, but Pantone is a kind person, and would hesitate from snatching ham sandwiches from any one as old as Mathew son is. The Americ s ar.d Sumter County mher of Commerce met in annual oslon Friday night for the purpose ot electing offU ers for the ensuing year, and for a general resume of the year’* ork. The report of Secretary Hyman was most gratifying and showed that much good had been accomplished for Amer- Iciis and Sumter county in the past ■ ear. In the way of arousing a greater public spirit in agriculture, commerce and the development of this most fav ored section. It showed that a deeper sanse of appreciation and public splri*.- edness had l»een awakened over the onderful possibilities of this section. •ther, his report went to show that iuch good had been done in the way of advertising this section through the medium of bringing conventions to the city, thus bringing to the attention of large numbers of people the varied re- roes we possess, awaiting indus trial development.
