The railroad train, the locomotive, the
machinery, and modern
government are not the products of one
niind, but of many minds-, and social,
political and commercial refor ns will
'"'\er spring wholly from one head,
U "oull be of inealculalrle value to
the world if the stubborn reformer and
agitator, who thinks differently, could
he convinced of this. Political parties
come into existence usually by the
combination of diffeient elements.
The Republican party was originally
made up of a little of everything. The
People’s party is of similar construction
Now suppose that in the organization
of either of these parties, the impracti¬
cal reformer who has, in his own opin¬
ion, a cinch on the means of reform,
should have insisted upon the adoption
of his notions or the adoption of none.
Of course the parties cud not ha\e
been oiganized. In the great majority
of cases there is something to be coni¬
ine dried in every plan of reform, but
no one embodies ali of human wisdom.
Let us give the other fellow credit of
possibly knowing something, and then
try to’work together in harmony.—
