J.< WILLIAMS.
Official Paper of Taliaferro County.
(JKAYVFOUDVILLE, APRIL .‘5, 1903.
Full for the school !
Don’t be a knocker !
The school is alright !
Give the county better roads,
There is no race problem in
Georgia.
Are you doing your share for
Taliaferro?
Atlanta is sure hot after that
big university.
Grover Cleveland has had his
day and should now step aside.
Those hull-headed Cloveland
ltes continue to “chew the rag”
at Bryan.
Trox Bankston thinks Hoarst
and Terrell would make a good
team.
Many now residences going
up demonstrates that Craw
ford ville is not standing still.
They seem to have quit talk
ing about a dispensary over in
Wilkes. That’s right. Let well
enough alone.
Congressman Hardwick has
selected as his secretary Mr. Ed
ward T. Shurley, a young law
yer of Warronton.
y Pauline, '“V’.ausfv ,ht *
city ordinances have a blue
cover, it doesn’t signify that
th.’re are any bine laws therein.
The last census report gives
Georgia a total population of
2,216,331,of which 1,181,294 were
white and 1,034,813 were ne
groes.
Ail of the Atlanta papers miss
ed the Iiedau wreck the day it
occurred, and in twenty miles of
Atlanta, too. It is not often,
however, that Atlanta gets left.
Those Wilkes county people
seem to thoroughly appreciate
the fact that the remains of Gen.
Clarke aro buried in that county.
They seem to be making every
effort to locate them.
Young Plants
Every farmer knows that
some plants grow better than
others. Soil may be the same
and seed may seem the same
but some plants are weak and
others strong.
And that’s the way with
children. They are like young
p ants. Same food, same home,
same care but some grow big
and strong while others stay
small and weak.
Scott’s Emulsion offers an
easy way out of the difficulty.
Child weakness often means
starvation, not because of lack
of food, but because the food
does not feed.
Scott’s Emulsion reallvfeeds
and gives the child growing
strength.
W hatever the cause of weak
ness and failure to grow—
Scott’s Emulsion seems to find
it and set the matter right.

It appears that Taliaferro is
not the only county in this cir
cuit whose people expectorate
on the court house floor and
steps. Following is from the
Hart county grand jury present
ments:
“The ordinance against expec
torating on the lloors and wall of i
the building, which was referred
to by his Honor, Judge Holden,
on the opening of court Monday,
| we lated regret during to notice the present has been term vio- of
;
| court, the and be we rigidly recommend enforced. that
same
The city council of Crawford
ville should pass an ordinance
prohibiting any one from expec
torating on the floors and walls
of the court house here. And
enforce it, too.
The other day in New York,
some of the “400” entertained a
negress in the most lavish man
ner. which lead the Macon Tele
graph to remark: “The people
np there are always eager for a
new sensation and it takes some
thing really startling and outre
to arouse them to interest. The
Telegraph considers that a crowd
which will have a monkey one
year and a negro the next has
reflected upon the colored race
and that the decent negroes of
the country ought to protest.”
The Washington Reporter con
tained a local last week to the
effect that a man, who was ill m
a distant city, had been sent $25
by the Odd Fellows and Knights
of Pythias of that town. We
have always been under the im
pression that such donations
should only be known within the
walls of the secret orders. We
are sure that , , the , principles ... >>* „
Odd Fellowship and Pythianism
teach that it is not right to take
advantage of a member’s desti
tute condition to advertise the
benevolent actions of an order.
The notice we gave concern
ing tho flourishing condition of
the Bank of Crawfordyillo sev
eral issues ago, has been exten
sively copied by the state press.
This illustrates what incalcula
ble beuetits a paper is to a town.
If run correctly it will keep the
industries and other attractions
of the place fully advertised.
And yet there are people who
poke fun at the country weekly
and withhold their support from
it. while others send their work
away.
Athens Banner was hopeful
that Dr W. P. Love joy would be
elected president of Wesleyan
Female college. However, Dr,
Charles W. Byrd, pastor of the
First Methodist church, Atlanta,
was elected to the position.
