ed from an extended visit asound the
world. In speaking of Mrs. Allen, the
Augusta Herald says: “A beautiful oil
pertrait of Mrs. Minnie Battle Allen of
Sharon, will shortly be exhibited at the
St. Louis fair by one of the finest ar¬
tists of the South as a type of Southern
beauty. Mrs. Allen has just returned
from the South and West and after a
brief stay at the Piedmont in Atlanta,
has returned to her country estate at
Sharon, Ga. Mrs. Allen personally
manages her large estates in Warren
and Taliaferro counties, and is known
as one of the brightest young business
women of the State.

at 58 station, on the Georgia railroad,
last Friday. He was well liked by all
who knew him.

The old soldiers will have a good time

Some of the newspaper* are jumping
on Tom Watson. We wish Tom had
not accepted the nomination, but he has
more brains than we have. We are net
able to dictate to him. Very few are.
Alex Stephens camp of old veterans
met last Thursday. The next meeting
will lie held on the flrtt Tuesday In Octo¬
ber, the regular quarterly meeting. All
members are requested to he present, as
the election of officers will take place.
We were glad to meet Mr. Miner
Hobbs In Crawfordvllle last week. He
says he loves the old veterans, but is
neyer going to any more teunions. He
