couraging to the citizens of our hustling
little town.
The Sacred Heart Seminary opened
last week with a good attendance of
boys from all parts of the United
States.
Prof. Albert Flynt’s school has a large
attendance, and the Sharon High school
is proving a success under his leader¬
ship.
Di. A. T Gi-bert is improving slow¬
ly. It is a great pleasure to him to
him to have his friends call and see
him.
Dr. L. R. Brown has bought Mr.
’Bose Jackson’s plantation, and Rtv.
F. P, Brown has purchased Mr. W.
L. Jackson’s place.
Master Lloyd Brown is to be con¬
gratulated on the aptness in the drug
business. < He is indeed a natural phar¬
macist, and some day may gain the
same title of his father.
Just a little misunderstanding some
times cause ill feeling. Such was the
case with some of the.boys about a cer
tain ticket which a young lady pur¬
chased.
Mr. James Moore Kendrick left Wed¬
nesday for Mercer, where he will com¬
plete his college education. Moore is a
big hearted boy, and his friends wish
him well.
A stranger came to town Tuesday
morning. It was “Traveler’s’’ first
visit to our city in quite awhile. It is
hoped that he and the judge kisterl and
made friends again.
Mr. John Burke and Mr, Nathaniel
Barnett happened to the good luck, last
Wednesday night, to kill two woggle
bugs in the large whang doodle tree
that stands in the center of Broadway.
JSince the Racket Store has opener,
the floor walker, Mr. William Patrick
Rrennan, is kept on a rush trying to
sell double heel and toe socks that never

Wo saw Judge Tom Evans marry a
couple of darkies last week. It locked to
us very much like a runaway affair. Bro.
Tom tried to tie the knot good and hard,
and we hope he succeeded.
We hear some farmers suy they would
not gather their fodder crop for it, and
would rather buy fodder than to fool
with it. Successful farmers always saye
their fodder.
We expect to vote the Democratic
ticket on the fifth day of October, and
hope every man wlio voted in the Apri
primary will do the same. We want to

We regret to learn of the death of Mrs.
W. J. Jackson. We knew the deceased
for several years. She was a good woman,
and has gone to the Kingdom of Glory.
We extend to the bereaved relatives
our tenderest sympathies.
We think if some people would pay
more attention to their work, and less to
politics, they would he much better off.
Politics don’t pay the small fellows, it
don’t make any difference how sincere
they may be In their convictions.
YVe don’t see how some church mem¬
bers can lie brethren and Christians and
fight each other across the fence or be
nind their backs. They should quit their
foolishness, shake hands, make friends
and go to church and serve God right,
Brother Thomas Jones went to Home,
returned safe and sound and had a good
time. He says a better crowd of people
was never seen in Georgia. Hotels, pri¬
vate residencies and boarding houses wer 0
thrown open to the old veterans.
Editor Williams stated last week that
we jumped on big men sometimes. We
admit that, but'they did not bruise us
much; but the women have hit us some
liaid licks. We are one of the little fel¬
lows, hut we would rather tackle a big
man anytime than a woman of any size.
We were talking with one of Talia¬
ferro’s most conservative and solid citi¬
zens the other day, who has been a life¬

but says he is a smart man and a good
