US MER01UAM.
By the death of Jesse Asbury our
county has lost one of her worthiest
citizens. He was born near where he
died seventy-two years ago, and while
he did not spend all his years here, he
lived the larger portion of his life, it
may be truly said of him, that he made
no enimies. An intimate friend of more
than half a century leaves not an un¬
pleasant remembrance. We may truly
quote of him as we did his brother more
than fifty years ago:
“Green be the turf above thee
Friends of our early years
None knew thee but to love thee
None knew thee but to praise.
It was not amiss to feel sad at the
ending of such a life. The grief how¬
ever should be for the survivors than for
him who has been called away.
