of County Solicitor Cloud the

'{'he discrepancy between the
two statements, appears to us as
being very small. The differ¬
ence, when boiled down to its
true essence, is as to which
words should have been used,
“revoking an order imposing a
line of $100,” or “remitting a
fine of $100. ”
All the circumstances sur¬
rounding the absence <>[ Hubeit

very sensational. We could

Mr. Hubert also denies that
he stated to any one that lie
had been forced to testify
against Mr. Flynt for fear of
being prosecuted for perjury.
We gave Hubert our authority
for making the statement. We
can furnish t lie names of others,
who state that Hubert made such
a atement to them.
We have no feeling or interest
in the matter, except to give
our readers the legitimate news.
This we will do fearlessly and
at all times honestly. If we
should err in the latter, we are
willing to make proper correc¬
tion. when approached in a gen¬

We are perfectly willing for
the public to judge as to the ex
tent of the injustice

Makes a Request.
Mr. Jack Hubert has request¬
ed us to say that ho wasn't lined
$100.00, by Judge Andrews, for
contempt of r court, as published , ,
in our last issue.
I n order to find out the extent
of the injustice done Mr. Hubert,
we asked Solicitor Cloud to tell
us, in legal phases, just exactly
what was done. Here are his
words:
“1 asked the court to rescind
tlie order or rule absolute, im¬
posing a line of $100,00. which
had not been served, in order to
place the court in a position to
place whatever tine he might
see fit to impose. 1 did not
mean to ask the court not to im¬
pose any fi io at all, but his
honor saw lit to revoke Ihe order
imposing a line of $100.00, and,
subsequently, did not place any
fine at all on Mr. Hubert.”
We stated that Judge An¬
drews fined Mr. Hubert $100.00
for contempt of court, for not
appearing as a witness, and
keeping the court for a
