MILLIONAIRE COMMITS SUICIDE.
Suspected of Murder, Put ford Proceeds to
End His Existence.
Bothwell Putford, reputed to be
the wealthiest citizen of Savanna, UL,
committed suicide Thursday a few mo¬
ments after being questioned regard¬
ing the whereabouts of a revolver
with which he was suspected of bav
ing slain Attorney Daniel 3. Berry,
formerly a member of the legisla¬
ture.
Putford had denied any knowledge
of the killing of Berry, but became
agitated when questioned concerning
the revolver. The story has boon
widely circulated that Berry wan
killed as a result of attention paid by
him to a married woman.

Committee Investigating Holbrook Mur
ders Reveals Evidence Found.
The citizens’ committee of Oconee
county, Georgia, which has been in¬
vestigating the Holbrook murders, ad¬
journed Monday afternoon, after mak¬
ing a statement to the people, in
which it is said that the committ'e
has enough evidence to bring to trial
L. J. Aycock, a white man, and Rich
Robinson, Lewis Robinson and Claud
Elder, three negroes. All three ne¬
groes have confessed.

al District Telegraph company with
keeping a gambling house, were re¬
turned by the Fulton county grand
Jury at Atlanta at a special session
Tuesday morning. The penalty for
keeping a gambling house in Georgia
is twelve months on the chalngang,
six months in jail and a fine of $1,000.
Proposals have b»;n made in New
York and are believed to be satisfac¬
tory to President Alexander and Vice
President Hyde that control of the
