lion. Hoke .Smith will open
his campaign at Madison on the
2'Jth.
Wo predict that there will be
another “reform” candidate to
announce lor governor later.
We have it pretty straight
that Hon. Tom Watson favors
the election Hon. Hoke Smith.
Wh are glad to know that ef¬
forts will be made to have Lib
ojt,y Hall repaired.
it is too early in the game to
say in what column to place Tal¬
iaferro, as to the governorship
race.
The Union Point News ia fill¬
ed with home advertisements.
This speaks well for Union
Point.
Boys, it is too early in the
game to tear our shirts over
state politics. We doutn. if the
game is worth the candle to do
so at any time.
If there is such a* thing .us, a
ring dominating Georgia politics,
and said ring is controlled by
the railroads, how is the election
to VS". «
There is work in Georgia for
the reformer, remarks the Da
rien Gazette, but the trouble is,
the reformer keeps too busy
fooling with the offices.
The man who is too selllsh lo
pay his share of the expense
incurred in securing the benefits
he enjoys, is not a lit. associate
for the man whose toil and sacri
lice have brought about the ben¬
efits.
The Hon. Josephus 11 ill Hall
lias been heard from. He 'lows
that be will not take either Hoke
or Clark in his. We suspect
that ho thinks a great deal more
of Josephus than either of the
candidates mentioned.
When it comes to pass that
the balmy winds and warm sun
of a spring day do not make you
yearn for a day in the woods, it
is a sign that you are thinking
too much of t he dollar and not
enough of life.
Congressman Thos. \V. Hard
wick was here Friday. Ho is an
* tnhusiastie Hoke Smith sup¬
porter. and if that gentleman
comes out squarely for the dis
frauchisomeut of the negro. Mr.
Hardwick says he will take the
stump for him.
There ts a great deal of talk
about an anti corporation can¬
didate for Governor of Georgia.
The men who will deposit the
ballots have their eyes on a man
who will neither be a corporation
or" anti corporation candidate,
but when elected will give every
man a fair deal.

A Wrong Impression
The impression has gone out
that the tuition for each pupil
at the Stephen’s High School,
will be $5 per month during the
fall term. It was agreed that it
would be necessary to charge
each pupil about $1.25 per
month for the fall months.
Each pupil is entitled to free
tuition for five months.
Miss Smith is making strong
efforts to raise the amount need¬
ed by popular subscription, lec¬
tures and entertainments. It is
expected t o raise iabout $500.00
in this way.
If the amount is secured a
charge of $1 per term for each
pupil will be rnado.
