At a meeting In Augusta of Post E,
Traveler*' Protective Association,
a red-hot resolution, introduced by
<laptaki P. H. Rice, demanding that
the board of directors investigate the

connect the order with state politics

of the offense the state secretary, was
passed. His name is not given in the
resolution,, but it is known to be Mr.
Andrews of Atlanta.

Railroad Employee* In Georgia.
Figures just compiled by the railroad
oorrcHsion of Georgia show that the
various railroads in the state employ
21,363 men, Including the officers of
the road, while without the officers
there are 21,214 employees.
The Atlantic Coast Line employs
more than any other railroad in the
state, having a total of 4,46(1 men on
its pay rolls. The Central of Georgia
comes next with a total of 4,323 and
the Southern railway is third witTi

Arrested Florida Health Agent.
On account of the arrest of Or. Dig
pott, agent of the Florida state board
of health, by the mayor of Folkston,
State Health Officer Porter of Flor¬

The prison commission will take

Surveying New Railroad.
Work of surveying the Central of
Georgia railroad from Carrollton to¬
wards Bowden and out through Cle¬
burne and Randolph counties, Ala
lifima, has begun under the supervision
of the regular surveying corps, head¬
ed by Mr. Shipley. They hope to have
this line com pitted by February, 1906.
It will open up a good section of coun¬
try untraversed by asilways. The town
of Bowdon, which has been so long
secluded and deprived of a railroad,
may soon be placed In connection with
Carrollton.

Clerk Transferred to Atlanta.
The recording and clerical depart¬
ment of the United States eircuit court
of appeals of the fifth judicial circuit,
located in New Orleans, since that
court was established, has been trans¬
ferred to Atlanta.
Charles H. Lcdnutn, for years clerk
of the United States court of appeals
with offices in New Orleans, is now in
the Gate City.
The judges of the various district
and circuit courts within the territory
of the court of appeals of the fifth cir¬
cuit have been officially notified of
the change. The prevalence of yellow J

sequent quarantine restrictions are !
presumed to be the primary cause of
the transfer.

Savannah Quarantine Called Off.
Savannah's quarantine now applies
to New Orleans alone. Health Officer
44". F. Brunner having issued orders
to that effect. It is probable the quar¬
antine will he done away with en¬
tirely a few days after the federal au¬
thorities assume control of the situa¬
tion in New Orleans, as it is believed
that the detention camps will then
protect the outside world.
The quarantine against New Orleans
row. however, is being rigidly enforc¬
ed, a special officer boarding every
train, and putting off those who are
tumble to show that they have not
been in New Orleans for five days.
The city authorities have begun a
sanitary crusade throughout the city
end suburbs, and an active war on
mosquitoes.

Hudson Assumes Official Duties.

North Carolina until that time.

A call has been issued by the chair¬
man, J. J. Holloway, for a meeting
of the executive committee of the peo¬
ple's party of Georgia to be held in
Atlanta, for the purpose of mapping

TAF r ARRIVES at MANILA.
Pcrfv Given a Hurrah Reception by Officers
and Civilians of Philippine Capital,
! Secretary Taft and party arrived
at .Mani a on the steamer Manchuria
at 10 o’clock Friday morning. Their
arrival was made the occasion for a
gorgeous water pageant. Governor
General Wright, Major General Cor¬
bin and Rear Admiral Train, with their
staffs and the official reception com¬
mittee, met the party when the Man¬
churia anchored. The battleship Ohio,
forts and crafts in the harbor fired
the regulation salute for. the secre¬
tary of war. The party then proceeded
to the governor general’s residence,
where the official welcome was made
an i where the golden keys of the city
were presented to Taft. Thousands
linoil the streets, which were elabo¬
rately decorated.

bureau, shows that the receipts from
all internal revenue sources during the
year ending July 30, 1905. amounted
to $234,1S7,973, an increase, as com¬
