Obituary.
L. On September the ldth, Brother T.
Chapman passed peacefully away.
He was born in Taliaferro county in 1840
and came to Garfield in January, 1899.
He at once engaged in the mercantile
business, buying only a small capital to
start with, his son J. A. Chapman, being
the junior memDer of the firm of T. L.
Chapman & Son. From the very first
success came and the business grew and
inc reased until larger quarters became
necessary. These were soon obtained,
and the large business of the firm today
stands as a monument to the industry,
frugality of this much loved citizen.
He laid the foundation for his success
in business and in winning friends by
hist air dealing and honest purposes.
Every who was personally aquainted
with him loved him and if he ever made
an enemy the fact was not evident.
All the merchants, bank, ginnery, and
other business enterprises of this town
closed their doors out of respect and
love for this good man, and at the cem¬
etery, a large crowd came to pay the last
tribute of respect to the departed.
His body was laid to rest in Hebron
Cemetery, September 21st at 11.30 a.m.,
near Garfield, and as be was committed
eaith to earth, ashes to ashes and dust to
dust, we thought about the meeting by
and by. He leaves many relatives to
mourn for him and we pray God that
those left behind will strive more earn¬
estly than ever to reach the mansion in
Heaven prepared for them that love God.
A Friend.

Letter to Mot'ord A Melton,
Crawlordville, Ga.
Dear Sirs: You sell ti uood many
tilings by the gallon. Being decent
men you give full measure.
You know what we mean; you know 1
that short weight and short measure arc
common among—\\<li, we hope there
are no sh u t weights and mem ores in
your town.
There are, though. Ribbons and laces
and trimmings, sold by “dozen,” meas¬
ure. nine or ten yards. There is no com¬
plaint; because “they all do it.” You
have the same plainie in your goods—
nearly everything, canned or nettled,
cheats in the quantity. Almost nobody
gives full weight in a factory package!
We are one of the almost nobodies.
Wo sell paint by the gallon, to paint
your house; and our gallon is. just tile
same size as yours that you measure vin¬
egar with—231 cubic inches.
Good paint too—Devoe Jead.and-zino—
takes fewer gallons than mixed paint
and wears twice as long as lead and oil.
You own houses, That’s why wc are
weiting to you.
Yours Truly,

Card of Thanks,
We wi-h to tender our sincere and
heartfelt thanks to our friends and neigh¬

lavish kindness extended during the ill¬
ness and death of our son, George.
May God he ever as merciful and kind
to them as thev have been to us. an;l if
it is God’s will, may never such afflic¬
tion come to them.
We also wis to thank Dr. Dayidson
for the manner in which he rendered ser¬
vices to our beloved boy, as his physi¬

manner, llint always characterizes him
May God spare him to live long to do

Consumption
There is no specific for
consumption. Fresh air, ex¬
ercise, nourishing Emulsion will food and
Scott’s come
pretty near curing it, if there
is anything to build on. Mil¬
lions of people throughout the
world are living and in good
health on one lung.
Cfl From time immemorial the
* doctors prescribed cod liver
oil for consumption. Of
course the patient could not
take it in its old form, hence
it did very little good. They
can take
SCOTT’S
EMULSION
and tolerate it for a long
time. There is no oil, not
excepting butter, so easily
digested and absorbed by the
system as cod liver oil in the
form of Scott’s Emulsion,
and that is the reason it is so
helpful in consumption where
its use must be continuous.

A Regular Circus.
Trying to Give a Little Girl
Cod Liver Oil.
An interesting incident was tolil in
Had,may <& Moore’s di ug store roc ent.Iy.
A man came in and bought a bottle
of Yinol and while waiting for change
engaged the clerk in conversation. Said
he: “Wo wine told to give our little girl
cod liver oil. 1 bought 11 bottle and
took it home. \YY had a, regular circus
trying to get the chikl to iako it. Then
it did not agree with her at all, the oil
upset her stomach. She did not get any
better, so I told the doctor how we had
failed, and lie at once recommended
your Vino!, saying it, contained all of
the currative, healing and strengthen¬
ing properties of end liver oil without a
drop of oil, and that children all love
its taste
“I took home a bottle and we began
to giye it to our child right away. She
said it was delicious and wanted more.
Almost from the first dose we noticed
a change, and she has g lined flesh,
strengih and appetite and sleeps well
every night.
“I do not believe any one should give
a delicate child old-fashioned, nauseat¬
ing cod liver oil or emulsions when
Vitiol is so delicious, and it, will do so
much more good than any other tonic.
It is simply a wonderful medicine for
weak, puny children, and I am recom¬
mending it to my friends. ”
“We guarantee Vitiol will make weak,
puny children strong, robust and rosy,
Httengthen and invigorate old people,
and build up the run down, tired and
debilitated as nothing else can, If it
faijs we willingly return every dollai
paid for it.” Iladaway & Moore,
