TRAVELER.
* Mr Willie Sturdivant was a visitor
our home last Friday.
Charlie Caldwell and E(1 McJunkin
haven’t traded horses yet: they have
been at It a week. McJuukin would
rather trade for a wife now.
Traveler and Brother Bob Jackson will
have it this week, but It won’t be swap¬
ping knives sight unseen. We at busi¬
ness right in Sharon and noton Williams
Creek, but I expect Bro. Bob will have
to board us to get out even.
Mr. J. W. McKinney left last week for
a visit to his sister in South Carolina.
We expect Bro. John will drive on to
Eimira, New York, where he was in
prison during the war. Anyway, you
can count on something good when he
returns if he don’t go over to the Philip¬
pine Islands.
They warned us to go to Thomson last
Saturday to hear the truth told. We
knew it iu advance. Old Traveler’s head
aint no hole iu a dead pine tree that the
birds pecked there several years back.
The Southern Field published at Athens
is sure a Governor J, 51. Smith campaign
stieet. It never hits anybody but old
man Hoke; Russell, Howell and Estill
have a free ride with him and no abuses
to either. August 22ml all will have to
pay full fare and no stop over.
We would say to Midget and Judge M.
J. Taylor that we will tie the knot for
the Judge at any time, night or day. It
would be the nmst pleasant official act of
our life.
They are asking the delinquent fellows
now to come across. Wait till we get
the money. We will be at the election
August 22nd.
Air. Ed McJunkin is going to Texas if
he don’t get married in Georgia. Wait
Ed, we will put you through.
Well, everybody wants to auit work
and ihey have about done it.
Bob. Jackson called us to Sharon again
last week; another church to paint, or a
house of the same kind.
If our county commissioners can’t find
any law to pay an officer for arresting a
lunatic and carrying her to jail, where
do they find cue giving them pay for
their fees.
AVatson has told you that he will sup¬
port Hoke Smith and abide by the nomi¬
nation. What more could you ask of
him? lie can’t support all of the bullies
but all of them would like to haye him
on their side.
We have some of the most conserva¬
tive Democrats in Taliaferro county as
you will find anywhere; on the other
hand some of the most rabid to be found
auy where.
Two years hence will find a ditiereut
set of county commissioners in office, so
we have been told. Our roads are worse
than they were when the present board
took hold, and they don’t improye on
anything pertaining their to our county aflaiis
and draw salaries all the same. We
voted for the present board but can’t
vote for all of them next time.
Well, everybody ought to say who he
is going to vote for August 22nd. Trav¬
eler will vote for Hoke Smith, and some
of our best friends are going lo vote dif¬
ferently, but we are not fools enough to
fall out with each other about it.

SOUTHWEST
The Land of BIG CROPS and
PROSPERITY.
Are you making as much off your farm as you ought? No doubt you are
making all you can. The trouble is the land cost too much, It takes too much mon¬
ey to buy a big farm, and so you are trying to mak a living on a small farm, or
perhaps you are renting one and paying a good share of what you raise, in rent.
Wouldn.t it be better to go where the piice of grod land is so little that you can
own a big farm—where every acre of ground is working for you and ali you raise is
paying you good profits?
There ate thousands of acres of fertil land in the Southwest the line of the
Cotton Belt Route that can be bought for from $3 to $10 an acre. This land is in¬
creasing iu value each year.
See The Southwest at Small Cost,
A trip to the Souahwest would convince you that your best interests l»y in settling there.
The trip can-be made at very little {expense. ; On the first and third
Tuesdays of each month you can purchase around trip ticket to any point
in the the Southwest on or via the Cotton Belt Root! at very low rotes. Stop¬
overs will be allowed for you to examine any locality you are interested in
