TRAVELER,
We attended court one day last week.
Tlmt Was all they had.
We wore glad to moot Oapt. J. U. Park
out of Greene couuty’a worthy citizens,
ltt.-.t week.
Mr. and Mrs. Carlton McKinney were
visiting in Barnett section last week on
their way to Butte, IS. 0., where they
will make tlieir home.
Miss Mary Mac Atchison yisited Mrs.
Bonnie Turner at Barnett this week and
assisted her in the postoflSce there.
Mr. Olin Sturdivant ot Sharon was in
Traveler’s district last week selling sew¬
ing machines. Mr. Sturdivant is a hust¬
ler for business of any kind.
Wo met wilh our old friend Tim Uar
riad last week. He says Columbia coun¬
ty is all right but sorry crops on grav
lands.
When a mail duos a wrong in any of
the walks of life and acknowledges the
same he should he forgiven. All men
make errors. There are none perfect.
Mrs. Clarence Wheeler joined the
Methodist church at Harnett, and it was
Mrs. Starling Chapman that joined the
Baptist church instead of Mr. Starling
Chapman.
There was many a man that started
out with Hon. Clark Howell’s band wag¬
on that jumped into the Hoke Smith
turnout in the wind up. And now every¬
thing has jumped in.
Messrs C. C. Caldwell and Lee Gunn
of Crawfordville stopped a while in
Barnett last, week waiting for trains.
They had been over to Washington.
Mr. C. It. Garrett returned from Flor¬
ida and Alabama this week. He gave a
nice account of his trip. They are do¬
ing big things where he lias been.
Mr. Jim Rhodes of Sandy Cross is in
tin; saw mill business again. Mr. W. F.
Sturdivant will work with him as sawyer.
Me ssrs, .John Biantley and Herschel
Stewart were in Black Log section last

and Florida last week.

day of court week. Our people like him
much.
Col, Hawes Cloud and other gentlemen
were inspecting lands in Traveler’s sec¬
tion last Friday.
Meeting continued pretty well all the
week at the Barnett Methodist church
last week,
Mr. Ed Waguon of Augusta was vi-it
ing friends in this county last week. He
is a son of tile late John Pete Wagnon,
veil known in this section during his
lifetime.
In talking with Col. J. A, Beazley last
week he said he thought that the Execu¬
tive Commute hit him very hard in those
resolutions, when lie meant nothing
harmful to the Committee in his com¬
munication in the Advocate-Democrat.
Under this statement we think ihe com¬
mittee should be leuient.
They had Rro. M. .T, Tavlor ou the
stand all day court week trying to make
him tell who his intended bride is, hut he
never told. Mike say < it is nobody’s busi¬
ness but his own and Midget laid bettei
lay low and Mr. E.i is Allen too, or he
will frail the tilling out of them.
Those who are interested in the county
cruit can readily see that our Superior
courts have very short sessions and wo
don’t average eight days of county couit
during the y<ar. We learn the county
court has saved the county six bundled
dollars since it went into service. We
don’t know liow true this is.
Some people have a craze to be in the
jury box. This is all wrong. You may
br a good respectable citizen and then
not competent to sit on a. jury, while we
admit * ur jury Commi-sioner* 1 ave out
Hint that ought to be there.
Judge Tom Evans offered to buy the
lieeiiM and Traveler to perform the cere¬
mony free of charge if Bro. Mike Would
g lmariied. Judge Taylor 1ms taken
tlic matter up, will give answer in the
near future. He gallanted a nice widow

New- ;s scarce. Our people are very
industrious and are pulling fodder, cut¬
ting hi y and picking cotton and covering
house.
Their is nobody visiting now except
the lazy ones and you all know that I do
not be - mg to that class.
Mr. T, F. Combs improves very slow¬
ly. H is not able to be up yet. I guess
he will stay off of mules hereafter.
We are sorry to report the death of
Mrs. Louise Tucker, the mother of Mr.
George Tucker. She died on last Satur¬
day an. was buried at County Line
church on Sunday. Rev. J. S. Callaway
conducting the services.
Again, we are sorry to say that we are
expecting the death of Mr. U. E. Luuce
foru at any hour as lie is extremely sick
at present.
Mr. Ove Lunceford has repaired his
house, ixhieh adds greatly to its appear¬
ance, al.,1 we can further say that Ove is
a hustler.
Mrs. A, II. Beazley has been very sick
but we are glad to say that she is some
better.
If R. W. Meadows does not come to
lown regularly please let me know and I
will see him for you as I know that lie
has no excuse now.
I saw Corporal Wail and he
was weli|.
Mr. Hilary Wall has returned from
Montgomery, Ala., much to the delight
of his parents and many friends.
One of bur dudes carried two girls to
cnurcli last Sunday with one trace and
did not find it out until he was un¬
hitching.
Please keep me posted in reference to
fudge M. J. Taylor’s marriage.
I overheard this conversation a few
days ago: “Good morning, Si.” “Good
morning, Josh.” “How are you, Si?”
“Not well, Josh.” “Wliat’s the matter,
Si?” “Well, I voted for Jim Smith.”
“Well, what made you do it?” “Well,
a feilow came along and gave me a drink
and a cigar and a dollar. That’s why.
And 1 had not been used to such treat¬
ment.” “Well, what is the matter now?”
“Well, my appetite is gone, 1 cannot eat.
r tried everything and even sent to R.
M. Rose for an appetizer, but that failed.”
“Well, why do .on not send for the doc
toi.'"4<V,Vui;,ti,,i i,tb,. same complaint
and if he could cure himself he could
cure me, but he is as bad oil' as I am.
But boys we heat, Tom Watson. Hurrah
for Jim. While Watson was not in the
race, we beat him.” Well Si, do you
not think you need a guardian?” “Well,
Josh, I need something and if you know
what it is, giye it to me*for I am mighty
bad oil.”

SOUTHWEST
The Land of BIG CROPS and
PROSPERITY.
Are you making as much oil your farm as you ought? No doubt you are
making all you can. The trouble is the land cost too much, it takes tao much mon¬
ey to buy a big farm, and so you are trying to mak a living ou a small farm, or
perhaps you are renting one and paying a good share of what you raise, in rent.
VVouldn,t it be better to go where the price of good land is m little that you can
own a big farm—where every acre of ground is working for you and all you raise is
paying you good profits?
There are thousands of acres of fertil land in the Southwest the line of the
Cotton Beit Route that can be bought for from to $10 an acre. This land is in¬
creasing in value each year.
See The Southwest at Smail Cost,
A trip to the Souahwest would convince that best interests in there.
