OUK CLUB.
The club met at the hospitable
residence of Capt. C. L. Peacock
Friday night. Miss Neta Prevatt
read a most interesting piece on
the “Folly of Swearing.” Miss
Claudie Gay recited in a charming
manner “The church organ.” She
has elocution powers of superior
order. Master Harry Stephens
completely captivated us by reciting
“What would echo say.” Miss
Blanche Cockrell had charge of the
music and delighted the club with
some choice selections. In truth it
was a joyous, occasion to all present.
Our Editress, Miss Mary Horna-
dy, read a very interesting story
written by “One of the club.” The
club was indeed fortunate in secur¬
ing Miss Mary as Editress of the
Oriole.
The club has its object mental
improvement, social enjoyment and
to repair the Ellaville Academy.
Surely these are all “consumations
devoutly to be wished.” The com¬
mittee having in charge, the festival
reported about thirteen dollars as
the amount received from that
source.
The club was invited to meet next
Friday night at Mr.H. \V. Cockrell’s
which invitation was unamiously
accepted.
May the club live long and pros-
per. A.
