Some girls in North Geor¬ gia have been captured while mak¬ ing moonshine whisky. With such a wife a man’s expenses would be greatly reduced. Mr. A. A. Gaines, while out hunt- irg last week, shot an immense owl that measured four feet and eight inches from tip to tip. It is the largest we ever s.i w; anybody but a drummer would have made it even five feet. A terrible tragedy occurred clown at Shellman last Saturday by which two white men were perhaps fatal¬ ly wounded, and a negro killed. The unfortunate affair conveys a lesson for white men, if they will only heed it. Our esteemed friend, J. M.Fol¬ ium is the proud and happy father of two pretty girl babies. “C.” litis flint.shed the Enterprise with sev¬ eral good articles, but it seems his liveliest productions appear in other sheets. Harvest home festival and con¬ cert by the Methodist Sunday School will be held at the court house in Ellaville on Wednesday evening, November 17 next. It will be a nice entertainment and all are invited. Admission free- sec programme in this paper. We have it on good authority that the B. V. & E. railroad will be completed to Columbus at an early day, and the eastern end of the road will be extended and con¬ nect with the Central at Milieu. Our road will then become an im¬ portant short line between the east and West. This is not mere rumor. The gentleman who gave us the in¬ formation is in the “railroad ring” anti knows what he is talking about What little our bachelor friend, Kit Warren, don’t know about mat¬ rimony would not be worth his marrying to learn, He can even furnish suggestions on how to get rid of a wife. “In Persia,” says Kit, “a man never thinks of murdering ti wife of whom he Is tired, but sends herns a gift to some bachelor friend who admires her and who is too courteous to refuse.” Happy Persia! V. & E. railroad on subscription notes; in four of these there was no defense and judgment was rendered in favor of the road; two cases were contested and continued, A lawyer states tjiat there “will be some lively liti¬ gation” over these suits. The main point of defense Is, we believe, that the B. V. & E. railroad is not a legally chartered company. ®r A Went Virginia man has had to pay $2,500 for deserting his fian¬ ce on the day of the wedding, when all her friends were assembled to witness the ceremony.
