Rythmic CGiiiiiiunicUion,
•Tis a groat little city, as all of you
knew;
I’ve a few facts to prove it, and these
I will show:
Though 1 make no pretentions at be¬
ing a poet;
Yet if vOn give me space 1,11 see liow I
cm go it.
Well, the first of all is the Schley En¬
terprise,
The test county paper in which to
a Ivertise.
With W. P. as e-X-.or a vary worthy
fellow;
And Miss Mary to assist him—There
r.re none who can oxeel-her.
Next at Anglin’s store I stopped,
Found quite a tine display;
Of his a tlention and his goods.
There’s much that I could say.
Ant light on the earner is a splendid
place to giv;
Where th*- school girls Imv chewing
gum from llenrv S, Munro.
Then with Dixon A Wil-liani-son, J
could not long delay;
Thong,- their goods ai d genial smiles
both, invited me to stay,
A:i<! now comes Murray «fc Williams
with new furniture for sale;
Hardware and family groceries, and
dry goods by the bale
There is Mr. T. A. Collins o’er on the
corner block;
Who eails your special notice to his
enormous stock,
Of dry goods and groceries he’s open¬
ed for the Fall;
lie will convince yon they are cheap
if you will oniy fall.
With him, E W. Strang U found;
There,s no better clerk the State around
You can next trade with G. W. O
And all his goods he’ll guarantee.
Or with Suter -V. Greene tne dealers in
fish.
Or anv other goods that you may wish.
Then eomes liuit Murphy with plenty
of vim.
Call in, Pm sure you'll be pleased with
him.
There's Dix< u Bros. whose goods I
must mention;
When in their store you get the test
attention.
Next at Allen’s sto*-e I stopped, he
asked me in—1 went;
Drank “plenty” of ice cold lemonade ,
—did'nt cost me a cent.
There’s II. T. Arrington just above ,
Who lias a splendid trade;
And bon himself, with cn-er-gy
A line salos-man lias made.
All mil-tin er-y goods are lound
At Mrs, Allen,s store-
With her exquisite taste, she sells
Fine bonnets by the score.
Then conics our literary school,
Of which wtMr Veiy proud;
For, of Prof, and Miss Kate,
The praises are sung ioud.
Miss Helen It. is at the head of music
and of art;
She understands its ru-di-ments, and
well, she does her part.
Of hotels, we have two—Tiie best

'Tis the verdict of drummers, lawyers
and judges sedate.
Dear mo! I have talkj.l, till I’m quite
out of breath;
I guess I'd better stop, or I'll talk you
to death.
I hope that these few silly lines, no
modest taste offends;
For all the blunders and mistakes,
hope to make amends.

(IRANI) FURY PRESENTMENTS
General presentments of the Or and
Jury, chosen for the Sept, term
1888, of Schley Superior
(ourt.
We, tlie Grand Jurors, chosen
and sworn at the Sept, term of
Schley Superior Court 1888, respect¬
fully submit the following general
presentments. Through the vari¬
ous committees, we have examined
the books of the different officers,
the condition of the public build¬
ings, roads, bridges and finaiydal
standing of the County.
We tiud the hooks of (be several
officers, very neatly kept ami as
nearly in conformity with the re¬
quirements of the law, as our abili¬
ty and limited time in the exam¬
ination of the same would admit.
First, the Treasurer’s books show
a balance on hand March term iS88,

Collector sinen March term, $1.11,87
total, $<571,02.

Ctisii ,ui iiiinii to imntnce, $111,55;
11 a I, $1)71,92.
W«* ti 11 c 1 the financial condition
of the County is as follows. 'Out¬
standing orders of 1887, $100,00; or¬
ders issued by Board of Roads and
Revenues since March tenn, $101-9,-
17; approximated cost ot March
court, $500,00; total, $1999,17. J.eav-
mgbalance due, unpaid, $1854,02.
We find the Court House in bad
condition; the roof has several leaks
which causes the plastering to fal ,
\\ e understand arrangements are
he j tig made to repair the same.
We recommend that the County
Commissioners take immediate ac¬
tion and issue bonds sufficient to
build a substantial Jail as the old
one is wholly unsaft .
We find the public roads and
bridges in good order except some
damages done by the recant rains
The Quebec bridge across Mucka-
lee and the lower Turnpike across
Buck Creek m etis some repairs.
We find a vacancy in the office of
Notary l’ubiic in the Dili Dist caus¬
ed by tlie expiration of the Term of

the appointment oj L, A, Gyles to
fill the vacancy.
We further reccommend that the
