M., 144 Total, 569 Mississippi:— Tupelo association, estimated 700 Missouri:— Big creek association, 589 Grand Total, 36.410 A special from Birmingham says: “Eighteen years Ago George Green and Henry Smith, farmers, living in Colbert county, Alabama, had a fight and Green shot Smith. The wound was not con sidered dangerous at first, but Smith re covered slowly. Finally he moved out of the county with his family, and a few months later his wife and son came back and reported that Smith had died from the < ffeefs of the wound. They mt before the grand jury and had Green indicted for murder. He was tried, convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. For several years Green has been confined at 1 he Pratt coal mines near this city. Some time ago his wife heard that Smith was still alive. Green succeeded in interesting a member of the state board of prison inspectors in his case. The inspector went to work and soon found Smith at Dallas, Ga., " here he has lived for several years. As soon as the legal formalities are compli ed wh h, Green will be released from f ■risen.” Jasper County News.—A certain Jus ti -e of the peace in this neighborhood was lecently called on for the first time to ue the matrimonial knot. The happy couple ( •o’ red) came forward and l.e r e ' <• <1 with the ceremony as follows: T > Mi' :r > v.n—“have you from having se n the crime committed formed or ex press? 1 any opinion for or against the , p isoner at the bar? Are you opposed to capital punisment?” The same queries were presented to the bride. Each as sented by a movement of the head: he pronounced them man and wife and t!»• y went their way rejoicing. Tni Recorder says: It is estimated that at h ast three hundred people from Americas attended the meetings at the Go->pol lent and the Buck creek camp meeting on Sunday last. There were between twenty-live hundred and three thousand people at each place.
