With six trains a day speeding by out
doors Ellaville puts up with a mad ser
vice that would discredit a Hindoo
village. If we had any assurance that
the thing-would change soon we could
bear with it more patiently but if there
is the slightest prospect of its ever being
changed, we have no intimation of u.
The stock law may work hardship
on pome of our citizens, but its effect
will be to greatly impi< v *the stock of
this county, Already the old scrub
stock are being replaced by thorough
breds. A car load of fine Jersey caives
have been bought and will be here in a
few days for citizens of this county.

They will both move back this winter.
Gradually the Schley countian who have
been lured away by the roseate stories
of a better land beyound. discover their
mistake and gravitate back to the old
homes of their youth. Many of those
who remain away would gladly return
i f their circumstances would admit ot
the move.
Mr. L. A. Giles and little daughter re
turned Saturday from a visit to relatives
in Mitchell county. He relates some
fishing experience while down there
that completely lays Mr. Meadows and
all our local fishing sports in the shade
and turns them green with envy. He
says that he went out seining in one
of the lakes near Camilla and in an hour
or two captured one hundred and fifty
pounds of fine fish. Next day lie went
fishing in the same lake with hook and
fine and caught eight fin" jack fish as
long as his arm. The story sounds lath
er fishy, but Mr. Giles reputation for ve
racity is almost as solid as George \1 ash
ingtou’s hatchet.
We regret to learn that Dr. A. T. Hart
of this county, lost his residence last
unlay night by fire. From what we can
learn the Doctor was at home alone, his
lamilv ifing absent attending the Bap
list association. He wafi awakened late
at night by the roar of the fire and hare
ly had time to get himself and a few a n
tides of household goods out before the
