MATHEWS-MURPHY.
A verv happv w dding was that which
occurred at the Methodist charch last
Thursday evening uninting for life
Henry A Mathews and Lula T Murphy.
T ie decorations were profuse and

a» id ■ a veritable ower of beauty,
> . i eacli Die Was an arch of evergreen
with waxen racers gleaming brightly
from the dark background, tapers were
also placed at regular intervals around
the chancel, t heir sift light giving a
charming effect to the seen*. Two
snow-white doves were suspended from
the pulpit and garlands hung in testoons
against the white wall. Under the
skillful toucli of Miss Nina Mil iatns
the sweet strains of Mendelsohn's
wedding march filled the church and
a hush tell on the large audience as the
bridal party entered i t the following
ordei: 1 he ushers Henry J Williams
and V A Arrington marched down the
isle and took the. stand, then came
Miss Neil Davis. Amadous with Mr Roy
Baisdeu, A meric us. Miss Leila Hornady
with Mr r P Branch. Sh- liman: Miss
Lilia Everett of tort \ alley with Mr
Louis Brown of loit Valley; Miss Chat -
lie Wynn Baisden of Americus with
Mr Henry Branham of Fort Valley. The
bride in a stylish travelling gown of
brown and tan came down the isle
leaning on the a m of the groom. They
stood beneath a large floral arch as Rev
Geo W Mathews, a brother of the groom,
spoke the solemn words that made them
one. The bride s maids wore elegant
street toilets and looked unusual!
charming. After the ceremony the
bridal party left on the 6:30 train via
Columbus for Fort Valley where they
will reside. Co) Mathews is a prominent
and successful lawyer,and a gentleman
of exceptional character, while the bride
is possessed of a decidedly attractive per
sonality, and all the graces of lovely wo
manhood. Both are widely and justly
popular. The reception from 4 to 6 at
the home of Mr and Mrs T J Murphy
was elegant in every detail. The entire
house was elaborately decorated with
palms and terns that lent an additional
beauty to the bright interior. The decor
ations in the dining room were superb,
Fragrant hyciuths and narcissus min
gled their delicate beauty with more
splendid blossoms. The delicious menu
was beautifully served, Many hearty
congratulations Were showered upon
the happy couple, and hosts of friend 8
wish them all possible happiness,
