Mrs. Caroline Walker, of Wa-
leska, mother of our Prof. J. L.
Walker, died at her home on
Wednesday of last week, after a
long illness. She was sixty-three
years old at the time of her death,
and had many friends who ad¬
mired her for her sterling character
as a woman and as a Christian.
She has joined the reward of the
faithful and true, which is eternal
peace and happiness.

We had a runaway marriage a
few days ago, Mr. Tom Mullinax
and Miss Ella Smith being the
young people’s names. t. seems
that the young man’s father, Mr.
Bob Mullinax, objected to the
match on account of tho couple
being so young, so they ■ decided
to run away and get married any¬
how. After they had got started
on their way the old man found
out what was up nnd followed af¬
ter them to prevent the marriage,
but the young people succeeded in
escaping him, met up with 'Squire
Griffin who stopped in the road
near Antioch church and joined
them hard and fast just before the
old man reached the scene t-of nc-

Dr. T. W. Hogan, of Canton,
will be in Jasper during court week
to do dental work. He is one of
the best dentists in North Georgia,
and our people are well acquainted

The notice for building a bridgeacross
Long Swamp creek 15 or 20 yards above
the ford near the residence, and on the
premises of Stephen Griffith, deceased,
in said county and state, will be lot out

place that the bridge is to be built, to
the lowest bidder. Bond is required and
good sureties. Tho bidder to complete
and have ready for use the said bridge
on or before the 1st day of September.

and well braced or bridged crosswise.
Each span to be trussed and well bolted,
and all lower timbers securely bolted
together. To be floored with 1 1-2 inch
stuff. All timber to bo firstclass heart
white oak or post oak.
