crowded and many had to stand
up while others could, not get in
the house, Rev. J. L. Tillman
preached a practical sermon and
it went to the hearts of his audi
ance as was nfti rwards manifest
ed. We hope the meeting may
be a blessing to the community
and its closing mark the time
when the house of the Lord was
strengthened.

jail by a bailiff from Tate hist

men n or. Wilkie had been curs
ing and rowing with some women

The horse that B. H.
bought in Atlanta a week or
ago is almost well. It came near
dying of distemper, but Mr.

cently gave the following list, of
what can be made from corn stalks;
first, cellulosi* for packing coffer
dams on our ships; second, pyroxlino
varnish; third, cellulose for nitrating
purposes for smokeless powder and
other explosives; fourth, as a pack
ing matt rial; fifth, for paper pulp
and the various forms of paper made
therefrom, both alone and mixed
with other grade* of paper stock;
sixth, as a stock food made from the
fine outer cheels or shives of the corn
stalks and also, from the node, or
joints. The leaves or tassels also
furnish a slireded or bale fodder;
seventh, mixed feeds for stock eon

various nitrogenous materials and
concentrated food substances, or
blood, molasses, dis'illery and glucose
refuse, sugar beet pulp, apple
ace and other by-products; and
