Lon Biuret) died yesterday after
noon from knife wounds received
at a picnic Saturday.
The picnic was given by the
Masons and a large crowd attend
ed and every one was having a
good time until in the afternoon,
when Ed. Falls and Lon Bierce hc
cnme involved in a difficulty aris
ing over the payment of a bottle
of malt-extract, when both drew
their knives and before friends
could interfere they were together.

er and Falls stabbed Pierce in the
stomach, inflicting a wound about
three inches wide, which resulted
in his death.
Falls made his escape and has
not as ye I been apprehended.
Oscar Fierce, a brother of the
dead man, stabbed and instantly
killed a man by the name of Loury
at Xinitahnlu, N. C. about ten
idays ago, and ia now ju jail at
j ^ s h e ville, where he was removed
from Bryson City for safe-keeping.
