of2003.
Anticipating the arrival of the
first baby of the year born at our
local hospital, the Mountainside
Medical Center Auxiliary asked all
members to bring baby gifts to their
Christmas party in December.
This bountiful collection of use
ful gifts was presented by Auxiliary
President Jacque Stanley and Gift
Shop Manager Phyllis Burke on
Jan. 4, 2003 to Hope Henderson, the
proud mother of a little baby boy
named Devin Henderson. Devin
arrived at 5:15 a.m. on Jan. 4
weighing only 3 lbs. 12 1/2 ozs. and
was 16 1/2 inches long. He was
immediately sent to a special neona
tal care location in Atlanta due to
the premature delivery.
The happy mother thanked the
Auxiliary and was pleased with the
gifts which will be put to good use.
As of this date. Baby Devin is doing
just fine.

JASPER ROTARY UPDATE — Sherri Kirk, Victim Advocate for
the District Attorney’s Office, spoke to the Jasper Rotary Club
about the Domestic Violence Task Force in the Appalachian Dis
trict comprised of Gilmer, Fannin and Pickens counties. One of
the main focuses is to help parents deal with their own anger and
violent behavior and how it affects their children. Most of the fam
ilies that receive help from the Victim Assistance Program come
from the court system who receives mandatory reports from
schools, police or local physicians. Ms. Kirk is pictured at the
meeting with Rotarians Mary Beth Burnette and Dr. Carl McCur
dy.

FROM IVIY HEART TO YOUR EXPECTATIONS
I have been in practice for over 25 years and have promised that if
any one of my many thousands of patients are not happy with their
orthodontic results, I will retreat at no charge to them. This is a
simple promise that tells you that I take the time to obtain optimal
results for each unique patient. My patients wear their retainers
only for a short time and I do not rely on gluing patients’ teeth
together to maintain stability. Only neutral zone orthodontics can
provide this type of quality treatment. Invisalign, functional appli
ances, head gear, and regular braces are only instruments. You
must diligently seek the intentions and get a promise from an
orthodontist of your choice.
If you are ever told that you will need to wear a retainer indefinitely or for life, or are
told that there will be a retainer cemented on your teeth to remain indefinitely then you
are not getting neutral zone orthodontics. BEWARE - When an orthodontist tells you to
wear your retainer indefinitely and you accept this as fact you have taken the responsi
bility of treatment stability from the orthodontist, where it should be, and now accept it
as your responsibility. When your teeth shift and become crooked again, that orthodon
tist is going to say “Well you didn’t wear your retainer like I told you to wear it. It is your
fault the teeth shifted!” When you are told this you must realize that is only a COVER UP
FOR INCOMPLETE ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT and in most cases it is not your
fault. Find out these intentions BEFORE you begin orthodontic treatment by asking very
specific questions.
You may receive excellent treatment from an orthodontist who promises you nothing.
However, would you prefer to trust your orthodontics needs to an orthodontist less confi
dent in their routine results or one willing to make a meaningful promise.
