boating in 2003?
Register Your Boat and Take a Boating
Safety Course On the Internet
Don't let the cold winter winds
fool you - boating season is just
around the corner and the Georgia
Department of Natural Resources
(DNR), Wildlife Resources Divi
sion (WRD) encourages everyone
who participates in boating activi
ties to get ahead of the game by tak
ing a boating safety course and/or
renewing their boat registration on
the Internet.
"Many younger boat and person
al watercraft enthusiasts can save
themselves time by finding out now
if they should take a boating safety
course in order to legally operate a
specific type of vessel alone," says
State Boating Laws Coordinator Lt.
Col. Terry West. "All boaters, no
matter what age, are encouraged to
take a boating safety course to
refresh their knowledge and make
sure they are in compliance with all
current boating laws."

age to operate boats and personal
watercraft (PWC) on state water
ways based on the age of the opera
tor and the size of the vessel. Some
of these requirements include taking
a boating safety course.
There are three easy ways to take
a boating safety course in Georgia -
on the Internet, by video or in a
classroom. On a computer, head to
www.boat-ed.com or
www.boatus.com for the ease of
taking an on-line, DNR-approved
boating safety course.
A video course can be ordered at
www.boat-ed.com or by calling 1-
800-460-9698. The cost is $24.95
(plus shipping and handling). For a
classroom course, check with the
local WRD Law Enforcement
Office or call (770) 784-3068.
Boat owners also can save them
selves time by registering their ves
sel on the Internet. Those interested
can go to www.goboatgeorgia.com,
select "Boating" and then select
"Register Your Boat in Georgia."
Select a license vendor then follow
the prompts to complete the regis
tration form. A temporary permit
may be printed that will serve as a
proof of registration until the actual
decal arrives by mail.
"Boat registrations must be
renewed every three years in Geor
gia and many boat owners wait until
the weather turns warm before
checking their registration," says
WRD License and Boat Registra
tion Manager Mike Hughes. "Our
office receives thousands of renewal
applications each spring, causing a
backup of six weeks or more in get
ting applications processed. Boat
owners can avoid the frustration of
waiting a long time for their boat
registration renewal by using the
Internet."
For more information on boating
safety courses, visit the WRD web
site at www.goboatgeorgia.com or
contact the local WRD Law
Enforcement Office. For more
information on boat registration,

Registration Unit at (770) 414-

IN MEMORY OF G. L. MOORE, JR.

Safely Home
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
There is work still waiting for you,,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth -
You shall rest in God’s own land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
We love you,
Maxine
