Thy Will Be Done
u A nd going a little
/\f;
.farther, He fell
on His face and prayed,
‘My Father, if it be
possible, let this cup pass
from me; nevertheless,
not as I will, but as Thou
wilt’.” (Matthew 26:42)
Yes, even Jesus,
God’s only Son, was
subject to human
emotion while He lived
and preached upon the
earth. Yet, He had total
faith in His Father, even
unto His agonizing death
on the Cross of Calvary,
knowing that He would
rise from the dead. Jesus
accepted the will of God,
without asking “why me,
Father?” He wasn’t sure
yet He was sure. Had
Jesus not died, had He not paid for our sins on the Cross, humanity
could not have realized the concept of God’s unconditional mercy
and our acceptance of God’s will for our lives. What a tragedy that
would have been for humankind!
This Easter, as you worship, won’t you meditate upon God’s gift
as He works in our lives; and in all circumstances, have faith in the
will of our Heavenly Father? Have a blessed Easter.
