Trig Parris of Epworth, GA takes a much needed win in the
Limited Late Model class at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge,
GA on Friday night, April 16th. Parris dropped out of the previous
race at the track a week earlier when the car failed.
had mechanical troubles while lead
ing.
“It was good to have a win after
what happened to us last week. The
car just quit coming off the second
turn. Devin (Dilbeck) got into us
when we stopped in front of him.
The car could have been better this
week, but we did what we had to do
to stay in front,” stated Parris after
the win.
This week Dilbeck had problems
coming into turn three on lap one
and had to move to the rear for the
restart. Following Parris to the fin
ish were Morganton, GA's Bobby
Painter in second, Danny Ledford
of Hayesville, NC in third. Tyke
Prince of Copperhill, TN in fourth,
and Dilbeck in fifth.
The Stock Pony class had Brian
Bumgardner of Whitier, NC getting
his first win at Sugar Creek over
Greg Sudderth of Brasstown, NC in
second, Ronnie Brewer of
Blairsville, GA in third, Justin
Thomas of Morganton, GA in
fourth and James Smith of
Hiawassee, GA in fifth.
The Modified Pony feature
action win went to Morganton,
GA's Junior Dillinger, B. G.
Thompson of Andrews, NC in sec
ond, Jamie Cross of Hayesville, NC
in third, followed by Scott Taylor of
Canton, GA in fourth and Justin
Guffey of Murphy, NC in fifth.
The final race of the night had
Bobby Kendrix and Jack Norris of
Blue Ridge, GA winning in those
wild and wacky two-driver Cruiser
cars.
Another exciting action-packed
full racing program will be held this
Friday night, April 23rd at the 3/8
mile dirt oval located just West of
Highway 515 on Boardtown Road
in Blue Ridge, GA.

Judge Thomas Rawlings to seek
Open Court of Appeals Seat
Review and as a teaching assis
tant at UGA's Terry College of
Business.
Judge Rawlings' work has
earned him praise from child
advocates and recognition across
the State. He was named by the
Georgia Supreme Court to serve
on a statewide committee to
study ways of improving
Georgia's system of protecting
children, and the State Board of
Education selected him to serve
on a statewide task force to
address the problem of truancy.
Judge Rawlings, campaign
website — at www.rawl-
ings2004.com — provides more
detail about his qualifications
and about the Court.
Judge Thomas C. Rawlings, a
native of Sandersville, Georgia
who serves as full-time Judge of
the Juvenile Courts for the Middle
Judicial Circuit, has announced that
he will seek the open Georgia
Court of Appeals seat being vacat
ed by the retirement of Judge Frank
Eldridge. This seat will be filled in
a statewide, nonpartisan election on
July 20.
"I hope to bring my experience
as a judge dealing with the prob
lems of abused children and trou
bled families, as well as my rural
Georgia values, to this important
position," Judge Rawlings said.
The Court of Appeals is
Georgia's second-highest court, and
its twelve judges decide over 2,500
appeals each year from the state's
trial courts.
Cases heard by the court include
appeals from criminal convictions,
child custody disputes, and civil
lawsuits. Prior to becoming a judge
himself. Judge Rawlings served at
the Court of Appeals as an advisor
to the Court's judges. He believes
his prior experience at the Court, as
well as his experience as a lawyer
and as a judge, will allow him to hit
the ground running when he takes
office.
"I also hope to bring a conserva
tive approach to the law," Judge
Rawlings said. "It is important that
judges understand their job is to
interpret the laws and to leave the
making of law and public policy to
the Legislature."
Judge Rawlings grew up in
Washington County, the youngest
of six children of Dr. and Mrs.
William Rawlings, Sr. He attended
Duke University and, after graduat
ing with honors, attended the
University of Georgia School of
Law on a full academic scholarship
provided by the Robert W.
Woodruff Foundation. While in
law school, Judge Rawlings served
on the prestigious Georgia Law
