By virtue of the power of sale contained in
that certain Deed to Secure Debt/Security
Deed executed by Robert Thacker to The CIT
Group/Consumer Finance, Inc. dated July 31,
2002 and recorded in Book 469 at page 403,
Pickens County, Georgia Records, said Deed
to Secure Debt/Security Deed having been
given to secure a Note dated July 31, 2002, in
the original principal sum of Eighty-Four
Thousand, Six Hundred Dollars and no cents
($ 84,600.00), with interest from date at the
rate stated in said Note on the unpaid balance
until paid, will be sold by the undersigned at
public outcry to the highest bidder for cash
before the Courthouse door at Pickens
County, Georgia, within the legal hours of sale
on the first Tuesday in May 2004, the property

Unemployment
claims
in Georgia
rise in March
The Georgia Department of
Labor announced that 37,024 laid-
off workers filed a first-time claim
for unemployment insurance bene
fits in March, an increase of two-
tenths of a percentage point from
February when 36,968 claims were
filed. Initial claims are considered
to be a leading economic indicator,
because they measure newly laid-
off workers.
“The increase in initial claims
filed in March is another sign that
the job market in Georgia remains
unstable,” said State Labor
Commissioner Michael Thurmond.
“In addition, we continue to receive
notices of significant layoffs from
employers throughout the state.
The combination of layoffs and the
slow pace of job creation continue
to be a concern. It creates a particu
larly difficult situation for the long
term unemployed, many of whom
are becoming discouraged by their
inability to find work.”
More than 8,500 unemployed
insurance recipients exhausted their
benefits in March. Also, the aver
age length of an unemployment
insurance claim increased to 12.8
weeks during the month, a tenth of
a week longer than in February and
nearly a half-week longer than in
March of last year.
