Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser
for Young Life camp May 7
By Jayme Stevens,
Young Life staff person
Our local Young Life chapter is
holding a Spaghetti Dinner fundrais
er on Friday, May 7th from 6-8 p.m.
at Jasper United Methodist Church.
Tickets are only $6 each and
include bread, salad, drink, spaghetti
and dessert. All money raised for the
evening will go directly toward a
student’s camp fee for a week-long
camp trip this summer.
Young Life is a non-denomina-
tional Christian outreach program
that has been around since 1940.
In today’s world it’s easy to think
that kids are out of control, over the
edge and impossible to understand.
But we think kids are great! We,
the leaders, spend time showing up
on their “turf’ by attending games,
practices, or just hanging out at the
local “hot spot”.
We are about building relation
ships and earning the trust and
friendship of teenagers with the
intent that we would be able to share
the great news of Jesus Christ with
them. We believe we need to earn
the right to be heard with teenagers.
Young Life operates 24 premier
properties across the United States
and Canada, one of which, Sharp-
Top Cove, is in our own backyard!
Each year more than 10,000 kids
spend a weekend during the school
year or a week each summer hiking,
boating, biking, swimming, horse
back riding, climbing through ropes
courses and speeding around go-cart
tracks. In addition, they get to hang
out with their friends and leaders
from home, have club every night
and take a closer look at how much
God loves them.
This summer our high school
group is taking a trip to Rockbridge,
the Young Life property in Goshen,
VA. Our WyldLife (or middle
school program) is going to our
property in Ocklawaha, Florida-
Southwind! Each of these trips cost
$450 per student and includes trans
portation, lodging, food and all the
activities they’ll participate in while
at camp. We guarantee that Young
Life camp will be the best week of
their lives or they’ll get their money
back...REALLY!
Will you please help our students
earn money for their trip this sum
mer by supporting our Spaghetti
Dinner?
I know they’ll greatly appreciate
it! Please call the Young Life office
of Pickens/Dawson counties for
more information at 706-253-3222.
