Grow your own . . .
Plants and seeds available
Once again the Jasper Farmers
Market was flooded with vendors
and shoppers this past sunny Satur
day morning.
The weather was very accom
modating as folks came out to
enjoy picking up locally grown
broccoli, strawberries, cabbage,
onions, poke sallet, and even some
of the season’s first squash.
Also available were started veg
etable and herb plants for those
who like to grow their own; toma
toes, basil, dill, and sweet potato
plants to name just a few.
Colorful hanging baskets, con
tainer gardens, native wildflowers,
perennials, and shrubs were in great
supply. As the recent spring rains
have made the ground soft for
planting, there is still time to add
more pizzazz to your landscape
before summers’ sultry heat sets in.
If you weren’t blessed with a green
thumb, you can take home a bou
quet of fresh cut flowers from the
market to enjoy all week long.
Other big sellers at the market
were handcrafted pottery, oh-so-
comfy Adirondack chairs, rugs,
honey, eggs, cedar birdhouses, rab
bits, herbal products, bread, pies,
jewelry, woodcrafts, soap, and wind
chimes.
Come by next Saturday morning
anytime from 8am until noon and
see what new items vendors will
have to offer. We’re at the Park &
Ride Lot near Newton Park across
from Jasper Middle School.
Just look for the sunflower man
and he’ll point you in the right
direction. See you there!

KPB THANKS HOSPITAL AUXILIARY - Keep Pickens Beau
tiful would like to say Thank You to the Mountainside Medical
Center Auxiliary for participating in the Great American Cleanup.
The auxiliary purchased flowers boxes and filled them with
beautiful flowers. The boxes were placed around the patio in the
outdoor seating area for the cafeteria and have made a welcome
addition to hospitals decor.
These volunteers are an asset to the hospital in many other
ways. The next time you visit the hospital and see a lady in a pink
jacket, tell them thank you for volunteering their time to make
your visit or stay a more pleasant one.
