Talking Rock farm continues concert series
Boulder Acoustic Society brings eclectic mix of songs
to Twelve Stone Farms Sunday
Boulder Acoustic Society, an
awarding band that blends a mix
of musical styles into exciting
live performances, will return to
12 Stones Farm this Sunday at 3
p.m. as part of a regular concert
series.
Farm owner Chiquita Berry
welcomes the public to her non
profit farm. She said, “The
Boulder Acoustic Society will
be coming back for another
rousing, rollicking, fun-filled
afternoon of music.
They play a mix of bluegrass,
folk, eclectic original material,
and other tunes that will have
you laughing one minute and
sighing the next, she said in a
press release.
The band, which includes
Berry’s son-in-law, performed
last year as part of the Talking
Rock farm’s concert series.
She said, they are a fantastic
band who has won prestigious
awards at the TelluRide
Bluegrass Festival and the 19th
Annual Folk Alliance Festival in
Memphis.
12 Stones Farm on Bunch
Court in north Pickens County
has for two years held a concert
series including a wide variety
of musicians.
Berry said she plans the con
cert series so people here have
an opportunity to see music of
different styles in an outdoor,
family-friendly environment,
close to home.
Admission is $10. Berry said
she doesn’t make any profit off
the concert, but needs to re-coup
enough to draw the different
musicians, as well provide rest
rooms and parking.
Her 12 Stone Ministries
offers numerous education and
social programs including work
ing with troubled kids and horse
rescue. It is recognized as a
501c3 non-profit.
Other artists later this year in
the Farm Concert Series
include:
• September 9 - Gabrille
Louise - Folk, Country -
Gabrille writes most of her own
material, which is soft, bluesy,
folksy and country.
• October 21 - Vientos del
Pueblo - Peruvian - www.vien-
tosdelpueblo.com/home.htm. A
high energy band really gets
people dancing with their South
American sound. Children espe
cially enjoy seeing this band.
• December 2 - Rough Draft
- 1970s music plus Christmas
Carol sing-a-long. This band’s
music will take people back to
their college days. Following
their performance, they will
play and lead in singing
Christmas Carols while sipping
hot chocolate and roasting
marshmallows.
All concerts begin at 3 p.m.
The farm is located on Bunch
Court, which is off Highway
136 Connector. For further

Pearson appointed vice chairman
of Senate Transportation Committee
Lt. Governor Casey Cagle has
appointed Sen. Chip Pearson
(R-Dawsonville) as vice chair
man of the Senate
Transportation Committee.
He succeeds Sen. Jim
Whitehead, Sr. (R-Evans) who
left the state Senate to run for
higher office.
Pearson represents Pickens in
the Georgia Senate as part of his
district.
The Senate Transportation
Committee considers all legisla
tion that relates to highway safe
ty and the regulation of
intrastate common carriers,
including railroads, buses,
trucks, vessels, pipelines and
civil aviation. Also included are
inland waterways and any other
means of transportation.
“Senator Pearson is a close
friend and someone who under
stands the transportation needs
of our state and wants to do
what is best for Georgia,” stated
Lt. Gov. Cagle upon the
announcement. “I am very con
fident in his abilities and look
forward to seeing the fruition of
his work as vice chairman.”
Sen. Pearson is currently
serving his second term in the
Senate. In 2006, he was
appointed chairman of the
Senate Economic Development
Committee, and he also serves
on several key Senate
Committees including:
Appropriations, Rules,
Administrative Affairs,
Insurance and Labor, and the
influential Committee on
Assignments.
“It is always an honor when
your work is recognized by
leadership,” stated Sen. Pearson.
“During my tenure in the
Senate, I have worked hard to
find common-sense solutions to
the transportation issues in our
state. Transportation is one of
the most important issues affect
ing us currently, and I am
pleased that Lieutenant
Governor Cagle has faith in my
ability to serve as vice chair on
this key committee.”
This summer, Sen. Pearson
will also serve on the Joint
Senate and House Study
Committee on Transportation
Funding. The study committee
