Happy Ramblers
Our regular club meeting was
this Tuesday and we met at the
Talking Rock Community
Room. We try to arrive a little
early and some of us bring some
thing to have for folks to nibble
on before lunch-time. Most of us
eat smaller servings at meal-time
and need a little snack between
meals. Now the shocking part of
this is that now they say that is
the best way to do it. I used to al
ways think, “Don’t be eating be
tween meals!”
We are not a real structured
group so we just kinda do as the
thought comes about. With this is
mind, we took care of some of
our business before lunch. We
sent cards, told about the flowers
that had been delivered to our
members, made plans for up
coming events, etc.
We had so many different
dishes served this time and
everything I tried I liked! There
was ham, chicken tenders, meat
balls, chicken casserole, chicken
dumplings, com, green beans,
okra, potatoes, tomatoes, kraut
salad, peas, mac & cheese, just to
name a few, and then came the
desserts!
After reading from Uncle Hu
bert Godfrey’s Bible (Ruby was
one of the hostess this month)
and prayer, we answered the roll
with a funny memory from
school. Here are some of the an
swers: she forgot what she was
going to say when the teacher
ask her to tell something the fin
gers were used for and said, “To
scratch with!”; some of the boys
poured that terrible smelling
cheap perfume on the floor
(wood floors of course) and
smelled so bad that the tears just
poured from the teachers eyes;
teacher would tap you on the
head if you were misbehaving or
not paying attention and a boy
grabbed the pencil and broke it;
when asked her name as she was
stopped in the hall for running,
her name was so unusual and
hard to pronounce that the
teacher just let her go; when the
big ruffled net petticoat were in
style, the ruffle got caught in
something and, as she walked
along, her petticoat unraveled
and she looked back to see she
left a trail “of petticoat” behind
her. One of ladies was in college
and didn’t know her way to class
and was following a man to the
classroom but, instead of the
classroom, she discovered just
before entering the door that it
was the men’s room that he was
going to!
