Troy By ess
Troy Byess, age 77 of
Waleska, passed away on Sun
day, Oct. 3, 2010 at Northside
Hospital- Cherokee.
Mr. Byess
served in the
U.S. Army and
was a Korean
War veteran
with three pur
ple hearts. He retired from main
tenance at Six Flags and enjoyed
himting and fishing. He was Bap
tist.
Survivors include his wife of
40 years, Carolyn Byess,
Waleska; children, Randy (Lisa)
Byess, Cedartown, Tex (Debbie)
Byess, Talking Rock, Michelle
(Kenneth) Barker, Canton, Todd
and Scott Byess and Billie Jo
Satterfield, all of Waleska; broth
ers, Bill (Betty) Byess, Som-
merville, Al., and Tex (Wanda)
Byess, Union Grove, Al.; and
brother-in-law, J.W. Lee,
Waleska. Twelve grandchildren,
eight great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews also
survive.
The funeral service was held
at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5 from
Sosebee Memorial Chapel with
the Rev. David Pruitt officiating.
Interment followed in Jerusalem
Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu
of flowers, contributions may be
made to the American Cancer
Society.

Bill Holland
Bill Holland, age 67 of Daw-
sonville, passed away on Mon
day, Oct. 4, 2010 at Northside
Hospital-Forsyth.
Bill was a retired carpenter.
He was honest, hardworking and
enjoyed coon hunting. He was
preceded in death by his sister,
Sybil Holland.
Survivors include his wife of
45 years, Wylene Holland, Daw-
sonville; daughters, Pam (Rev.
Danny) Baker, Canton and Jan
(Jeff) Harris, Dahlonega; sister,
Mae (A.W.) Head, Canton;
brothers, Robert (Jean) Holland,
Charles “Frog” Holland, Junior
and Jerry Holland, all of Canton;
and grandchildren, Hannah and
Micah Baker and Sydney and
Holland Harris. A host of nieces
and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held
at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 from
Sosebee Memorial Chapel with
the Rev. Danny Baker officiat
ing. Interment followed in Conns
Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Loren Wright
Mr. Loren Lionel Wright, age
45 of Canton, Ga., died Monday,
Oct. 4,2010, at the Atlanta Med
ical Center in Atlanta, Ga., fol
lowing a sudden illness.
Bom Nov. 10, 1964 in Chero
kee County, Ga., Loren was pre
ceded in death by his father, Roy
Lee Wright.
Survivors include, his daugh
ter, Jessica Lynne Wright, Can
ton; mother, Ora Grace Wright,
Jasper; sister, Linda W. Brooks,
Talking Rock; and brothers,
Lanny Wright, Waleska, and
Leslie Wright, Copperhill, Tn.
Several nieces, nephews, aunts
and uncles also survive.
The funeral service was held
at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6
from the Chapel of Roper Fu
neral Home in Jasper with the
Revs. Franklin King and Lane
Wright officiating. At his request,
Mr. Wright was cremated follow
ing his service.
Helen Dover
Helen “Doe” McRae Dover,
age 75 of Canton, died Saturday,
Oct. 9,2010 at Northside Hospi
tal Cherokee.
She was a local artist and a
member of North Canton Baptist
Church. She was preceded in
death by her father and mother,
Loomis McRae and Sadie Lowe
Hill; and grandson, Trevor Mc
Farland.
Survivors include daughters,
Angela Burks (Roy) McFarland,
Ball Ground, Teresa Burks, Can
ton, and Charlene Dover (Al)
Kellogg, Jasper, four grandchil
dren, 15 great-grandchildren and
one great-great-grandchild also
survives..
The funeral service will be
held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14,
from the Chapel of South Canton
Funeral Home with the Revs.
Joey Dubois and Mike Byess of
ficiating. Interment will follow in
Macedonia Memorial Park.

Damarius Bush
Mrs. Damarius Sue “Damie”
Bush, age 51 of Jasper, Ga., died
Monday, Sept. 27, 2010.
Mrs. Bush was born on Jan.
11, 1959 in Jacksonville, FI. to
parents, Luther, Jr. and Betty Lou
Pruitt Oliver. She was a home
maker and of the Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by
brother, Luther S. Oliver, III.
Survivors include her hus
band, Mitch Bush of the home in
Jasper; sister, Elizabeth Lazar,
Atlantic Beach, FI.; sister-in-law,
Sandra Eady, Blairsville;
nephew, Sean Christian Oliver;
great-nephews, Hunter and
Ryder Sean Oliver; and best
friend, Judy McQuaide, Jack
sonville, FI.
A private family service was
held. In lieu of flowers, the fam
ily requests donations be made to
the Damie Bush Memorial Fund,

Mark Henderson
Mr. Mark Thomas Henderson,
age 44 of Ball Ground, Ga., died
Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, in Pickens
County from injuries sustained in
a automobile accident.
Born Nov. 26, 1965 in Mar
shalltown, la., Mark graduated
from Georgia Institute of Tech
nology in 1989 with a BS in In
formation and Computer
Technology. He went on to earn
his Master’s of Science in Busi
ness Administration from Geor
gia State University in 1998.
Mark was a part of Leadership
North Fulton 2009-10. He was
employed as a business
analyst/project manager at Abel
Solutions in Alpharetta, Ga.
Survivors include, his wife of
10 years, Mary Henderson, Ball
Ground; twin daughters,
Stephanie and Melanie Hender
son, both of Ball Ground; son,
Thomas Henderson, Ball
Ground; parents, Tom and Judi
Henderson, Clarkston, Ga.; sister
and brother-in-law, Lisa and Tim
Cleary, Overland Park, Ks.; and
grandmother, Genevieve Palmer-
sheim, Urbandale, la. Several
nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles
and cousins also survive.
The funeral mass was held at
10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 from the
All Saints Catholic Church with
Monsignor R. Donald Kiernan
officiating. Interment followed in
Lake Forest Memorial Park in
Jasper with Father Charles Byrd
officiating. In lieu of flowers, the
family has requested donations
be made in memory of Mark
Thomas Henderson and be sent
to Ball Ground Elementary
School, 480 Old Canton Road,
Ball Ground, Ga. 30107.
Mark will be missed dearly by
all those who knew and loved
him. Roper Funeral Home of

Clara Charles
Mrs. Clara “Mutt” Wilson
Charles, age 93 of Chatsworth,
passed away Thursday, Oct. 7,
2010, at her daughter’s residence
in Ball Ground, Ga.
She was a member of Holly
Springs Baptist Church and was
preceded in death by her hus
band, Noler James Charles.
Survivors include her daugh
ter and son-in-law, Carol and
Charles Cook, Ball Ground; sis
ters, Nell Fisher and Mildred
Wills, both of Chatsworth;
grandchildren, Henry and
Brigitte Cook, Talking Rock,
Ga., Tom and Tammy Cook,
Jasper, Ga., and Mary and Isaac
Smith, Waleska, Ga.; and great
grandchildren, Samantha and
Chandler Cook, Matthew,
Megan, and Mikayla Cook,
Tyson, and Bailey and Jonah
Smith. Nieces and nephews also
survive.
The funeral service was held
Sunday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. from
the Chapel of Peeples Funeral
Home with the Rev. Eddie Mar
tin officiating. Burial followed in
the Swamp Creek Cemetery.
Joan Evans
Mrs. Joan Evans, age 54 of
Jasper, passed away Friday, Oct.
8, 2010 at Grady Memorial Hos
pital.
Survivors include her hus
band, Fred Evans, Jasper; son,
Daniel Brooks, Jasper; daughter,
Christie Brooks, Jasper; and
grandson, Joseph Brooks, Jasper.
Seven brothers and one sister
also survives.
The funeral service was held
at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11 from
the Chapel of Cagle Funeral
Home with the Revs. Lamar
Long, William Blackwell and
Charlie Buchanan officiating. In
terment followed in Lake Forest
Memorial Park. Pallbearers
were: Daniel Brooks, Ian Mul-
derig, Curtis Elliott, Todd Lan-
ning, Kenneth Biddy and Kenny
Payne.

Claudine Hamby
Mrs. Claudine Ethel Carney
Hamby, age 96 of Nelson, passed
away Wednesday, Oct. 6,2010 at
Grandview Health Care Center.
Survivors include her daugh-
ter-in-law, Petie Hamby Hodge
and Paul, Hiawassee; sister-in-
law, Frances Carney, Nelson; and
grandchildren, Nanette Rahn and
Shawna Klossing. Five great
grandchildren, three great-great-
grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews also survive. Mrs.
Hamby was preceded in death by
her husband, Loy Hamby; son,
Jimmy Hamby; brother, John
Carney; sisters, Wilhmenia Pe
terson, Juanita Thacker, Marjorie
Cole and Martha Champion.
The funeral service was held
at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 from
Nelson Baptist Church with the
Revs. Leroy Kelley and Steve
Chadwick officiating. Interment
followed in Sunrise Memorial
Gardens. Pallbearers were; Jeff

ell Clute and George Armstrong.

Don Ware, Sr
Mr. Don Ware, Sr., age 65 of
Jasper, passed away on Sunday,
Oct. 3, 2010 at Northside Hospi-
tal-Cherokee in Canton.
Survivors include his wife,
Ruth Ware, Jasper; mother, Stella
Ware, Dallas, Ga.; sons and
daughters-in-law, Don Ware, Jr.
and Kim and Matthew and Dawn
Ware, all of Canton; daughter
and son-in-law, Sonya and Lin
coln Warth, Jasper; step-daughter
and step-son-in-law, Dena and
Bobby Padgett, Dawsonville;
brothers and sisters-in-law. Rev.
Harvey and Barbara Ware, Dal
las, Phillip and Sandra Ware,
Canton, and Rev. Freed and
Betty Ware of Selmar, Tn.; and
sister and brother-in-law, Gwenn
and Vernon Carver, Fairmount.
Thirteen grandchildren and one
great-grandchild also survives.
Mr. Ware was preceded in death
by his father, Gordon Ware; and
a sister, Syble Shore.

at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6 from
Mount Zion Baptist Church with
the Revs. Ben Mock and Tony
Ramirez officiated. Interment
followed at Sunrise Memorial
Gardens. Pallbearers were: Trey,
Jude, Taylor, Aaron and Isaac
Ware, Chase and Lincoln Warth,
Bobby Padgett and John and An
drew Callahan. The family did
accept flowers or memorials can
be made to Cagle Funeral Home
to assist with funeral expenses or
to the Georgia Transplant Foun
dation.
