Staff reports
A Thursday night fire com
pletely destroyed this bam in the
Henderson Mountain Road area,
near Highway 108; no injuries
were reported.
The photograph was taken by
Derek Morgan.
Morgan’s wife said (via the
Progress Facebook) that her hus
band heard an explosion as he
was backing out of the driveway
and saw the flames.
Morgan then went and alerted
the owners. No one was in the
bam at the time.
Fire Marshal Curtis Clark said
metal-roofed barns like this get
very hot very quickly and col
lapse suddenly. He said the bam
was mostly empty with just a
lawn mower and a few tools in
side it. He said fire crews re
sponded but there was not much
they could do.
The cause of the blaze is not
known, nor likely to be known as
it burned down to the point there
was nothing left to investigate,
said Clark.
