Too Early
Yes, I know, it’s way too early
to think about Christmas, how
ever, we do need to plan ahead
for this year’s Festival of Trees.
The organizations, businesses
and individuals who have partic
ipated in the past have already re
ceived invitations and
applications, but we encourage
any new groups to take part in
this celebration this year. We
challenge you or your group to
create a decorated tree for the
Festival. The tree should be an
original, imaginative theme tree
representing you, or your busi
ness or organization. Trees will
be on display at the library dur
ing the month of December.

Important Georgia
Tax Return
Information
I wanted to make sure that
everyone is aware of the follow
ing information that was sent to
public libraries in the state of
Georgia a couple of weeks ago:
The Georgia Department of Rev
enue will discontinue the annual
bulk mailing of income tax book
lets to libraries. However, the de
partment will continue to mail
booklets to taxpayers upon re
quest. This change is part of the
department’s focus to cut costs
and improve efficiency through
the increased use of technology.
For taxpayers’ convenience,
Georgia Individual Income Tax
Booklets are available as fol
lows:
• On our website at: www.
etax.dor.ga.gov
• E-mail request to: tax
forms@dor. ga. gov
• Customer Service: 1-877-
423-6711
To reiterate: No Georgia In
come Tax booklets will be avail
able at the library and you must
request a copy for yourself if you
need one.
Computer/Internet
Classes
We will soon begin offering
small computer classes at the
Pickens County Library. Before
we set dates and times we would
like for you to tell us what you
would like to learn or become
more proficient with. Do you
want to set up an e-mail account?
Do you need to know how to
make an attachment to an email?
Do you want to learn how to find
things on the Internet? We’ll
have a “teach me how to...”
sheet at the front desk and the
Reference desk or you can call us
at 706-692-5411 and let us know
what you would like to know
about using a computer. Classes
will be small and you will be
able to learn your own speed. If
you’re a more advanced user, but
still have things you’d like to
learn, be sure to tell us about that.
Crochet Groups
Former staff member, Nettie
Corley, heads two crochet groups
that meet every Tuesday in the li
brary’s meeting room. On Tues
day mornings they meet at 10
and in the evening they meet at
6. You are welcome to attend ei
ther group or both! It’s a great
way to meet new friends, learn a
new craft, improve your skills
and share your ideas.
