The apple doesn’t fall far - Another Rittenberry gaining notice as vocalist
By Laiken Owens
Intern Reporter
Local 10-year-old Eli Ritten
berry will be going on a four-
day trip to Baltimore this May
as a member of the Georgia
Boy Choir. Eli joined the inter
mediate boys’ choir after a
Christmas concert in Decem
ber.
“It is a great honor to be in
vited back after the audition
and become an ambassador for
the state and county,” said his
mother, Megan.
If the name Rittenberry
comes to mind with vocalists, it
is proof that the apple does not
fall far from the tree. Eh is the
son of Brian Rittenberry, the
Jasper native who went to Hol
lywood on American Idol. Eli
has followed closely in his fa
ther’s footsteps.
“He has practically been
singing all his life,” said Mrs.
Rittenberry. Eh began singing
in church when he was little
and has loved it ever since. His
mother said he also wants to
have a singing career just like
his dad.
The Ga. Boy Choir will be
hosting the 6th Annual Georgia
Boy Choir Festival. All mem
bers of the Training Choir, In
termediate Choir, Concert
Choir and Young Men’s En
semble will be participating in
the day-and-a-half event. Also
participating will be the mem
bers of the Newark Boys Cho
rus from Newark, N J., as well
as the Florida Boy choir from
St. Petersburg, FI.
This is Eli’s first year being
a part of the program. “He is
just so excited,” said his
mother.
Participation in the Festival
is open to all boys 3rd through
12th grade who wish to experi
ence the Georgia Boy Choir for
the weekend (NO MUSIC EX
PERIENCE REQUIRED). The
fee for a guest to participate in
the Georgia Boy Choir Festival
is $55. This fee covers all
music, three meals and a Geor
gia Boy Choir Festival Polo
Shirt. For more information

/II 4 ill] . Jbfl Written by Agatha Christie, The Mousetrap follows the murder of
f'Maureen Lyon. The news of the murder is taken lightly by Mollie
UL~ and Giles Ralston who have recently converted Monkswell Manor
to a guesthouse. Sidetracked by a paralyzing snow storm, the inex-
perienced Ralstons are nervous to be hosting their first guests, but
they are determined to make a go of things. While waiting for the
guests to begin arriving, Mollie listens to a radio report about the Lyon murder, which notes
that police are looking for a man in a dark overcoat who was observed near the scene. Follow
along as the characters must figure out who the murderer is!
