Happy Ramblers
Sunday afternoon was so
warm and sunny, just a perfect
time for a ride! That used to be
our regular way of life, go riding
and maybe stop by to visit with
someone.
Anyway, after church and
lunch we went on some road that
I had not been on in well over 30
years. When I worked with Tom
at Ludville Elementary School, I
became very knowledgeable of
the roads and who lived where in
that section of the county. Good
ness, how things have changed.
The roads now are about all
paved and so many big homes
that it was just almost unbeliev
able to me. You were always
wondering if you could get
through that mud hole without
getting stuck.
We rode over Big Ridge,
Black Nob, Long Branch and all
that section. I had no idea which
way to go or where the road
might lead. There was so many
beautiful views from the top of
those ridges and then down into
the hollow with the small
streams flowing, that I just could
hardly imagine how it was when
I use to take those kids home
from school for one reason or an
other. I was also over in that area,
as well as all over the county,
when I was working with one of
the government programs. I
passed one old house that was
falling in and could remember
the client that I used to visit there
and thought of what a hard time
they had it but how sweet and
kind they were. S o
now some afternoon when you
just want to get out and about, try
a ride in that section. I feel sure
you will enjoy it and the fact that
you are living in Pickens County.
