Tate’s cotton factory.
Tuesday morning at Tate
an accident happened that
caused the death of C.

yard at the Georgia Marble
Works when a pile of slab
marble that had been
stacked up, slide over on
them, instantly killing
Beavers and crushing the
leg of Dreskell. The weight
of the pile of marble was on
Beavers from about his
knees to his head and it is
not thought a whole bone
was left in his body.
No one saw the marble
fall and no cause can be
given. Messengers were
hurriedly sent for Drs.
Baber, and McClain and
telegrams sent to Dr. F.C.
Rhiehaids, at Jasper, and Dr.
A.M.F. Hawkins, at Ball
Ground. Dreskell’s leg was
amputated and he was get

Edgar Wheeler saw a
“buggar” Sunday night up
near the Hood School
House about a mile from
town. He says it was about
the size of a grey hound. It
was not at all afraid of him
or his horse.
Lester Barrett cut his foot
pretty badly down at
Rhynes Gin last Thursday.
He was chopping some
wood when the axe slipped
and his tow [sic. toe] was
pretty badly cut.

and improve yourself for the
New Year? A few top-to-
bottom tweaks can help you
look and feel your best
Update Staples
Staples and basics don’t
need to change with the sea
sons, however it’s important
to update these elements
when they’re worn out, no
longer fit, or are simply out
dated. Evaluate your shoes,
bags, jackets with these crite
ria in mind and replace any
items as needed.
If there are items that you
love that are in disrepair but
you can’t imagine parting
with, take this opportunity to
re-sole and shine those shoes
and replace that lost button.
You’ll improve these items’
usefulness and breathe new
life into them. You’H also
look more put together once
these items are refurbished.
Look Back
Refreshing your look
doesn’t necessarily mean
going ultra-modem. Some
times a vintage look can
make a bigger statement. Ac
cessorize with a timepiece
that is elegant, classic and
will never go out of style. It
will serve as a nice comple
ment to any outfit, whether
you’re headed to work or
going to a party. To combine
style with precision, consider
the A168WG-9VT from the
Casio Vintage Collection,
which has a sleek gold col
ored band and a digital dis
play.
