New stamps celebrating Bugs
Bunny’s 80th birthday coming
soon to a Post Office near you
Press Release
The U.S. Postal Service will
issue commemorative Forever
stamps celebrating Bugs
Bunny’s 80th birthday. The
Postal Service and Warner
Bros. Consumer Products are
excited to dedicate these stamps
at a virtual ceremony on July
27, the 80th anniversary of
Bugs Bunny’s official screen
debut.
Bugs has always been
known for his impeccable impersonations and his master
ful masquerades, so the soon-to-be-revealed 10 designs on
this pane of 20 stamps each showcase a costumed Bugs
Bunny in some of his most memorable getups.
The original stamp artwork is based on Bugs Bunny’s
iconic moments and was created especially for this is
suance by Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., featuring work
from Warner Bros. Animation artists, who also created the
sketches on the reverse side of the stamp pane. Greg Breed
ing was the designer and William J. Gicker served as art
director.
Customers may pre-order stamps at usps.com/shopstamps
or by calling 800-STAMP24 (800-782-6724), beginning
June 29.
The stamps are being issued as Forever stamps, which
will always be equal in value to the current First-Class Mail
1-ounce price.
Stay tuned for a sneak peak of the stamps at
facebook.com/usps. Please visit usps.com/bugsbunny for
details for the upcoming virtual stamp dedication cere
mony. News of the stamps are being shared with hashtags
#BugsBunnyStamps and #BugsBunny80.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating
expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and
services to fund its operations.

Rural Georgians have
complained for years about
the lack of broadband con
nectivity in their communi
ties.
Now, the exact extent of
the problem will be known
for the first time, thanks to a
new broadband availability
map published by the state
Department of Community
Affairs.
The General Assembly
authorized preparation of the
map as- part of legislation
passed two years ago aimed
at making reliable high-speed
internet service more widely
available across Georgia.
“This innovative map will
enable the private sector to
better see where Georgians
lack access to high-speed in
ternet, improve open-market
competition and help
providers explore partner
ships to address the connec
tivity needs of our state,”

Gov. Brian Kemp said in a
prepared statement.
The new map shows
clearly the huge disparity be
tween access to high speed
internet in metropolitan and
rural areas. Of more than
507,000 home and businesses
lacking access to reliable
broadband service, nearly
70% are in rural parts of
Georgia.
With the map about to
come online, telecom
providers have stepped up
their investments in broad
band deployment in recent
months. Comcast Inc. an
nounced a $9 million invest
ment just last month to
expand its internet services to
nearly 8,000 homes and busi
nesses in Haralson and Car-
roll counties in West Georgia.
“Broadband providers are not
only key to solving the con
nectivity issues, but they
have also been great partners
in developing these maps,”
said Calvin Rhodes, execu
tive director of the Georgia
Technology Authority.
The lack of adequate in
ternet service in rural Geor
gia has become particularly
glaring during the coron-
avirus pandemic. Students
from rural communities have
been forced to travel to the
parking lots of closed busi
nesses and libraries during
the spring semester to pick up
WiFi signals so they could
download the online instruc
tion that was replacing in-
person classes.
“At the onset of the coro-
navirus pandemic, prelimi
nary mapping data proved
extremely useful in support
ing [Georgia] Department of
Education efforts to ensure
student access to Wi-Fi solu
tions,” said Deana Perry, ex
ecutive director of the
Georgia Broadband program.
“The Georgia Broadband of
fice will continue to work
closely with communities,
providers and state agencies
to support effective public-
private partnerships aimed at
serving those who are cur
rently unserved.”
